I dislike this PF but think the comic PF Supes looks amazing. If I won this PF I would give it away but of course to each their own. Some dislike the comic PF and like this one...

Everyone has their opinions and prefer different things, I agree. I am one that loves this piece but really have no desire to add the comic Superman to my collection :)
We would all be very boring if we all liked the same thing :):)

:goodpost: As a guy who will buy both movie and comic book based statues I total get why people like this. My Captain America TFA PF is an AMAZING Cap statue in my opinion, and the Hulk Maq is awesome. For me they are great representations of the characters PERIOD. Now this one is just a little too linked to the movie for me, and since I didn't LOVE the movie I don't need this, but I get why people are buying it.

Those people are wrong.

Why are you pretending to be a grizzled old vet Chin???... It doesn't suit you ... Even if you have the Grizzly Adams beard....:rotfl

I wonder if Ben Affleck as Batman hurt the sales on this. You would need to get his pf when the sequel comes out.

I wonder if the movie itself hurt the sales on this? Sorry, what I meant was if people just didn't see "their" Superman in the Man of Steel. As much as I liked the movie the changes to the origin might have thrown people off. As opposed to say one of the Marvel movies which is closer to the original stories. After all this was on sale LONG before Affleck was ever cast.

what changes to the origin exactly? He was still the last son of the doomed planet krypton with birth parents jor-el & lara...still landed in smallville raised by martha and jonathan kent...if you're talking about the whole "wanderer" thing, he's done that in some comic iterations of his origin.

I could go on for paragraphs... Lol. I can just see why some people don't recognize this as there Superman... That's just a possible explanation.

I'd honestly like I hear some of that (via PM of course) being an avid superman comic reader/collector since before seeing any of the movies and owning many of the comics from before my time as well. Not trying to say my opinion is more valid than anyone else's but I'm not swayed by what Reeve did (as I've read and heard from many ppl time and time again) who use his movies as their argument.

Anywhoo, I like this PF...I think the comic one leaves a lot to be desired at least for me. The pose is ok, but I'm not a fan of the base nor the face sculpts. I have the ex on waitlist just in case I see in hand pics that impress me but right now, I'm not feeling the comic version

Well you may know more then I do m8, and that is fine ... Maybe we can chat via PM... I guess that many like myself would just take some of what they did and see it as losing sme of the classic feel. Now I personally prefer the comic PF, but this isn't a failure, just to my preference

Not trying to throw that at you in any kind of "superior" kind of way, I just guinuinely like to hear other ppls opinions from those who don't use Reeve as their argument and instead who actually have/do read the comics :)

Oh I didnt take it that way at all, and yeah I have read the comics, maybe not as much as you have though, and I have watched the animated versions as well. So yeah I have some background....lol.

Hello guys, This'll be my very first sideshow statue and I have just begun to check this thread recently. Of course I am such a newbie, If I say something wrong, I wanna apologize in advance.

I just don't understand why do some people have to keep telling again and again about why they don't like this piece?

Starting from bad posture, boring base (which is reasonable for me) to bad movie, It's not exclusive, It is inferior to the comic version...

It doesn't make me feel right anymore.

Is this normal to other sideshow statues?

Haters gonna hate.
They should move on once they've decided they don't like a piece.
I'm not a Sups fan so...

Welcome! :fireworks

I agree with you. I dont think the movie has anything to do with possible sales on this. They are making a ton of Superman PF's, which came first and was ordered by alot of folks who only need 1 Superman pf, or had to limit it to the one they like best.

I thought the movie kicked ***! I thought he made a great Supes, and I am looking forward to both Statue iterations of my favorite character.

Firstly I don't think it is ALWAYS haters persay that are down on a piece. Sometimes it guys are HORRIBLY disappointed in a piece, and they just VENT. I have been guilty of this before, and I have been wrong before (GL comes to mind).

I can point to the Superman comic PF where MANY guys ABSOLUTELY HATE the EX head. To the point that the entire thread was JUST ABOUT THAT for what seemed like two weeks. Guys were just SO dissapointed in the Ex. Another example would be GL, where I was guilty of slamming the statue before we had real pics because I was SO dissapointed in it. I was wrong by the way. I know for MYSELF dissapointment in a piece is the main thing to get me to comment upon it negatively, it is a personality flaw to be honest, and I am trying to stop it.

Also, I think that some guys are just negative on the internet, and that is JUST the way they are. Should they just move on, it is what I TRY to do when I don't like a piece these days. However, some just want to go on an on about it. Ask anyone who loves their Hulk Maquette how many times a couple of board members have gone on and on about it being the "eggshell" Hulk... Guys are just like that.

In the end ... love what you love and be proud of it.... who cares what others think.

Welcome to the Boards :wave

Don't worry, I haven't figured it out myself. For some reason there is a lot of haters and trolls in this thread. If your gonna be on these boards its always good to make sure you order exactly what you like and learn how to drown out a lot of the noise. Generally, movie version statues don't fair well in this community and some feel its their purpose in life to make sure you get the comic version. I am getting both. It doesn't matter. Get what you want to display.

That's good advice right there. Get what YOU want. Not what others think is the cool or correct statue or figure to get. Options and diversity are what makes this hobby great. Just don't let naysayers sway you one way or another.

I think this is an exceptionally well done statue and I was really thinking about getting it but I had already ordered the COMIC PF and have far too many other pre-orders waiting so I had to pass. I may still get this in the future since I think it would be cool to have this one, the comic one, and the Reeve one displayed together.

Don't worry too much about what negativity some other people say about certain pieces and be sure to make your own decisions based upon your own feelings. Personally, I love reading other's opinions about statues that I've either pre-ordered or am thinking about getting because many times they make very valid points. I have, on two occasions early on made the mistake of changing my mind on a piece because of insane naysaying in one of the forums. In both cases the statues eventually sold out and I saw after-the-fact that my original feelings were correct. Being new to statue collecting, I was blindly trusting the opinions of others, since they were more experienced, instead of listening to myself.

If you love it, get it and you will thank yourself every time you walk into the room and see it there. If it feels right, it is right. ;)
