No Darkness = :monkey2

Thats the worst part about it. At the end of the day there is no replacement Sideshow can offer, we might get our money back, but being that all the Darkness busts are defective or will likely be come defective in time, we are screwed out of an awesome collectible

:monkey4.......:monkey2

This is a prime example of why proper QC is critical and why NO company (no matter what they produce) should overlook it.

I also think it's another sign that a huge flaw in Sideshow's business model is the lack of actual Sideshow employees based full-time in China. Damn it, they need to bite the bullet and hire a PM counterpart who's sole job is to ensure things at the factory are done properly EVERY DAY. At least half of Sideshow's production & QC gaffes could be cured if they did this. It's Product Management 101, for crying out loud.

Sorry to hear about this KD. Perhaps some additional Rupees in the near future might cheer you up.:D

When Chase is talking (seriously) about cancelling upcoming DARKNESS products you know Sideshow has a problem on its hands.

I'm almost positive I've said the same thing half a dozen times previously. Shoot, perform some ESS and temp cycling to accelerate lifetime of item so this stuff shows up during the build. Like isaid before, we having similar issues in some Chinese outsourced painted parts at my work, paint flaking right off. Difference being, we are stripping and repainting them. This sort of thing makes me appreciate qa now, normally I just think they are a pain in the ass.

Having sold my 1:1 Darkness about two years ago, I was over the moon to get the LSB. Now, I've had him out of the packaging for inspection once and everything was fine, now I need to check him again. If I lose him I will be crapping lightning! No one is safe!!!

Seriously though, even if he's fine, I'm always going to be thinking, any moment now my statue will shatter into a million pieces, kinda takes the joy out of it.

D:(:(:(:(:(:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad

I remember basicly being told to go ???? myself by everyone here when I mentioned Sideshow having QC problems about 6 months ago. :lol
I'm sorry, I must have missed that. I wouldn't want to make a liar out of you. Go ???? yourself basically. :lol Somehow that felt good even though I didn't mean it. Thanks Deckard, you're a real pal.

This is where Sideshow are really the meat in the sandwich. I mean the QC from the factory could all have been perfect. What happened to cause the problem on so many different lines? Were they all produced at the same factory? Why some units and not others? Is there a time line where these particular items were painted around the same time? It's not as if it's one colour of paint and the paint is the problem. How do they cure this paint? In an oven? Was the process rushed? Were the surfaces not prepared properly? Can Sideshow recuperate money from these factories for failing to observe proper procedures?

I guess they first must pinpoint the problem before they can rectify the consumer backlash. If they can do anything to rectify it. What possible solutions can they offer their customers? Some response by Sideshow is warranted. Should Sideshow be given the time to investigate and come up with something or is it better they just say 'Sorry, once past the 30 day limit we can't entertain any recourse'. Have it over and done with.

This whole thing is a terrible shame.

The only way to get this addressd is to make as much noise as possible about it. Make it very loud and clear to SS....flood them with email's, phone calls, LETTERS if you must. But as long as it gets the point accross that this is a serious matter that wont be taken lightly. I for one want them to make a public announcement via the forums or their own website acknowledging the fact they have produced and sold inferior and/or defective products to customers that have been sited by members so far. I want to know they have a plan of action in place to solve the problem and what recourse customers who have recived products with paint issues will be compensated with. I doubt SS will offer refunds to everyone, BUT points or a discount equal to the value of the piece purchased I think is a fair trade and better than nothing.
If these were $10 collectibles I wouldnt lose sleep over it. However, were talking about collectibles ranging in prices from $200-$2000+. If SS values their customers concerns and their MONEY they will look into the issues being raised ASAP!
The state of our current economy right now is not one where SS should test its customers loyalties.

And lets face it, if Weta can do just that, even tho they are a smallish collectible business, then there is no reason why Sideshow can't.

I think most of us are aren't we? :(

Yeah, I think so.

I like to think Sideshow is gonna offer something, but I really dont see that happening, which is gonna suck big time and further piss me off.

I just cant believe I have a $250 item that is breaking down not 6 months after recieving it :monkey4 :monkey4 :monkey4 :monkey4 :monkey4 :monkey4 :monkey4

It really is crap. Paint deteriorating, no matter how long someone has it, and people worry about the rubber on a Hot Toys figure.

Maybe it's time Sideshow started putting silicone skins over their statues as a way of moving forward into a new era for their polystone creations.

Totally frustrating, and I'm not even affected. Just wish I could offer a reasonable solution.

I know man it's crap but if they gave you credit you still lose the bust but it would be worse for someone that bought it off ebay for well over retail. :horror

Well in the long run this will end up saving me some money, I am about 99.9% sure Meg is getting canceled and I'm still 50/50 on the black edition.

See this is what's going to happen everyone is going to start cancelling their stuff so Sideshow best get something sorted.

Well, the way I see it, is there is no way I am getting a flawless Darkness bust at this point. Sideshow is gonna do one of 3 things: Tell me to go ???? myself, refund my money and have me send the bust back, tell me to keep the bust and offer some kind of partial refund. No matter what, it ends with me having a defective bust or no bust at all. Without Darkness LSB, I dont really want the Meg LSB.

As far as the black edition, I just dont feel like taking a $300 gamble. Its cool, but I can live without it. Still undecided what I am gonna do about it, but I am really leaning towards just sending it back and calling it a day.

I'm scared as i have the Vader bust on order and i can't cancel it'll cost me $250 to do that so i just have to prey it's fine.
