Ha ha,no bitterness here or a dog for that matter.I Just sense from some of you freaks a lot of loyalty towards SS and that's fine, but just because you really like their product doesn't mean you should defend them every way possible even when you know their stickin it to you.I like their product too but I know when I'm being had.I know that Dark shadow guy is real cheap on shipping maybe they can offer what he offers.

No one has been defending Sideshow. They've all been questioning your logic (since there seems to be so little of it present in your claims). As for knowing when you're being had, methinks you are tilting at windmills. There aren't any monsters here out to get you.

I order direct from Sideshow and Gentle Giant, as well as from dealers such as Dark Shadow, Fireside, Alter Ego, BBTS, and about a half a dozen others, and none of them gouge on shipping (or sales tax, either ). Granted, Adam does have a very sweet shipping deal for his customers, but that's his choice to draw more business. I don't expect (or demand) that other dealers follow suit.

I wonder if the fact that the PPO was on Thursday rather than the usual Friday threw anybody off?

You know, there's always a few guys that say "oh shoot, I totally forgot about the PPO".

Yep, these are some very impressive sculpts. I just hope too much isn't lost in translation during production.

That is my second biggest concern, the first being the paint jobs. Usually Sideshow's sculpts come out fine, but the paint is always hit or miss. They usually seem to be right on the money for 'monsters' though so Sidious ought to be fine, but Palpatine could end up looking like Elizabeth II if they aren't careful

Yep! Finger's crossed.

I know a lot of people want a Boushh style paint job, but both Boushh and Asajj worked well because they're female and thicker paint apps only help give them that smooth feminine skin we like. It's the guys that suffer with too much paint when you start losing the lines and skin texture.

In part I agree about the male/female issue, but with Boushh everything just seemed to work out perfectly. None of the great sculpt detail was lost, and the paint apps (not just the skin, but everything) came out top notch. Easily one of the best 12" purchases I've made. Here's hoping these repeat that trend...

See, I've only been with Sideshow since the Star Wars line started, but I've never come to associate PPO's with a specific day, I just make damn sure what the date is listed with it and be sure to be available that day.

...

And how is $7 for shipping exorbitant?
Lucky you, if you only pay $7 for shipping. Some collectors pay far more than that. Ask the Europeans, Canadians or Australians if you will... On top of that, they have to pay taxes - which is not SSC's fault of course - but it adds up. From the shipping point of view, the two pack is a good thing. Saves me at least $43.

Nobody is saying SSC is the greatest company ever. It just seems like you're trying to pick a fight.

Kind of both, what?

I think Josh is referring to the exclusive statue. If you really EU reference materials and the ROTS novelization, you'll know that the material from which the statue was made is like lead under an x-ray...whatever's inside the statue cannot be detected via scanners. Palpatine hid several lightsabers inside various statues. That's how he kept them concealed from the Jedi and Senate but within arm's reach.
