The release schedule is not set by Dusty. She may see things in development and not know exactly when they are due for release. So she neither confirms nor denies, since she really isn't in charge of choosing the proper time for the announcements and preorders. Once the decision is made to reveal a new product, the web team leaps into action. Dusty may have seen a near finished PF and assumed that it would be shown to us this month, and it turns out that they are still making some final adjustments. I don't think she knew we weren't going to see one and wanted to tease us or "toy" with us--she may have honestly thought that it might be time to show the new piece, but it just didn't work out. She doesn't enjoy manipulating our emotions...

Or does she?

:D

And Vince, I know that you weren't really accusing her of that, you just got me thinking. It's just a good reminder for all of us (myself included) who have hung a great deal of hope upon those cryptic hints that have been dropped along the way that Dusty didn't intend to mislead us, and that Sideshow didn't break a promise or anything.

Wow, Tom, I'm not worthy :bow But you did get pretty much everything right, and I couldn't have said it better myself. And NO I don't like manipulating emotions - I only do it by accident, and then I get in trouble. It's a wonder they still keep me around ;)

They have to keep you around. Otherwise I would be just bugging Chris, Brant, and Corie during SDCC. :lol

Even if they told us who the next character was going to be.

The thing is, we can't do that either, as schedules are always changing when they're working on multiple characters at once. What if the one that was originally intended to come next doesn't get fully approved until a LONG time from now, while some other one that they are in the beginning stages of bringing to life progresses through the channels faster? All we can say is that there are big plans to do a lot of characters in the line, but sometimes it is beyond the control of the production and creative teams as to how fast they get done. We appreciate the passion though!! :duff

Bottom line is patience. We know SS isn't giving up on this line. The costumes in LOTR are some of the coolest we've seen and SS has said are some of the hardest they've done in the PF area. Not to mention NL may or may not want this guy before that one or even the way the eyes are looking changed. The factors that go into getting these out are truly more than most of us here tend to think about.

I don't want to start a whole new thread to ask this question form Dusty So if I may,

Dusty can you at least confirm that new 1/6th LOTR figures are bieng worked on?

My apologies if this has already been addressed.

You know what, questions like these are GREAT for Ask Sideshow, as we have the production guys' full cooperation in getting questions answered during these 4 days - so feel free to submit anything that pops into your mind, and we'll see if we can get them answered and posted to the blog during the event! https://www.sideshowtoy.com/php/asksideshow.php

As my dad once said wen peeping his horn when gridlocked in traffic,

'Patience is a Virtue'

Yeah rite when it's not yourself it is!!

Patience left town 6 months ago and has been replaced with frustration. Arriving soon is anger, followed by apathy.

I always saw this line as a chance to pick up 2-3 key figures. At that scale I can't pick up minor characters like Lurtz no matter how good the sculpt is. I always laughed when people ranted and raved about getting the entire Fellowship. It would cost too much, take up too much space and the pace at which the 9 characters are released would make it unfeasible since they certainly would not be in order.

This is all before the tremendous backseat this line has taken to the more profitable SW and Marvel.

I remain on the lookout for Aragorn or GTG...

You would think they would at least have thrown out the rest of the Hobbits just to get something out there. If they can do Frodo they can obviously do the others.

I am no longer confident that we will ever get the entire Fellowship in PF form. That was my hope for this line--I still don't have the entire fellowship in any format at all, and I wanted this to be the one in which it finally happened.

It seems so unlikely at this point.

It will happen, just not in our lifetime Tom.

Sauron *cough*

So there is a Gandalf PF coming...:monkey5

Dusty--Let's say that you guys had intended the next one to be announced a while ago but it was taking longer to get approved. So the next one in line catches up to it in the production pipeline and you have two nearly ready for preview.

Does that mean that you will just shelve the second one until a more appropriate time (even though it's ready to go) just for the sake of spacing out the announcements? Or would you put out two announcements fairly close together if they were both finished around the same time?

Without being even remotely specific or confirming or denying anything so that I don't get you into trouble, can you give a generic answer?
