Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Man, watched part of the Batman Lego movie.... what a piece of dreck. Thank God Disney got rid of those two goobers.

Really? I thought it was quite clever and funny (with a few eye roll moments here and there)

How old are you, 12? I'm sure you're not... just saying'

It's a cartoon for kids, with an ADD attention span and a rapid-fire joke display built for people weened on the Simpson's. It's not inventive nor is it clever by any stretch. The jokes are basic and pop-culture referential.

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Its truly depressing that the only thing so far that interests me about this film is puppet Jabba.

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

I didn't know about the puppet Jabba, but I like the sound of it.

Just hope he's more like ROTJ Jabba and not ANH 'Special' Jabba.

21JS is fantastic though & I wouldn't write off their ability go helm an action movie so quickly. Comedy directors tend to transition really well into other genres. Look at Burton with his Batman films and Adam McKay with The Big Short. Comedy is hard to master.

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

I really wouldn't call 21JS or Lego Batman "comedy that has been mastered".

We'll see what becomes of your auteur genius duo. True talent has a way of rising to the surface.

What's a comedy you like?

Network. The Birdcage. Tropic Thunder. Sixteen Candles. Silver Linings Playbook.

I like lowbrow too -- probably have some terrible favorites from my childhood just like the rest of you. Like "Airplane".

I don’t know, I guess I just took it as nothing more than it set out to be:dunno

Poor Wor-Gar hasn't laughed since 2012. And apparently only laughs once every few years. :monkey2

J/K! Just giving you a hard time! :lol But it does sound like you have to loosen up, buddy! You sound like a grumpy old man complaining about kids today and their rock and roll!

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Lord and Miller didn’t do the Lego Batman movie though. They did the Lego Movie.

I am. And mad like you. :)

Those were just a couple of my favorites off the top of my head. Though, other than Thor 3, I can't remember the last good comedy I've seen. Maybe it was Silver Linings.

Now that is interesting. :lol

Same style I imagine though.

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Lego Batman is at 91% though. Shows what that means.

Anyhow here's Woody Harrelsons opinion on the film:

When asked by the Toronto Sun if it felt as if he were part of something epic with Solo: A Star Wars Story, Harrelson replied: "Epic? I can’t think of it in those terms, but I do think we’ve made a really good movie, and it could be a really funny movie, too. And Ron Howard is just a joy."
