Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Poor Wor-Gar hasn't laughed since 2012. And apparently only laughs once every few years. :monkey2

J/K! Just giving you a hard time! :lol But it does sound like you have to loosen up, buddy! You sound like a grumpy old man complaining about kids today and their rock and roll!

Now I picture Wor-Gar and DiFabio in a florida nursing home cursing at the tv lol

In a perfect world:

"Solo" gets 15% on RT, bombs at the box office.

TLJ gets 95% RT, makes 1.5 billion.

LFL realizes that giving unneeded backstories to OT heroes is a terrible idea and focuses entirely on new golden child Johnson's new trilogy and characters forever more.

Then WB decides that a Steppenwolf backstory is long overdue.

I love what you're proposing but we live in a world where the bloggers who call themselves critics won't dare bash a Disney film. Call it stupidity, call it conspiracy. Its a fact. Ragnarok was a ******* movie yet its RT score rivals TDK's. That's the stupid world we live in.

Even if Solo is absolute garbage, it will receive a positive score from the pathetic press.

But aren't your own reviews part of the problem? Doesn't your 8/10 score for Ragnarok "rival TDK's" score?

I mean I know that on a scale of 1-10 you give 8 if it's "the worst movie ever", 9 if it's "meh" and 10 for "better than Pee Wee's Big Adventure" but still someone else scanning your ratings would think that every film you saw was a Nolanesque masterpiece. ;)

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

I'm still amazed that he rated that movie higher than me. I gave it like a 6/10 or something.

Very first movie I looked up, Disney's "Alice Through The Looking Glass" got a 30% on RT, so apparently they will bash Disney.

Guess you just like different things.

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Hey, here's an idea. If you don't want unnecessary SW movies, don't go see them, and let the people who want those movies enjoy them.

Just cause it has SW plastered all over it doesn't mean it's a necessity to watch it.

This isn't slowing down anytime soon with a new trilogy on the way. So get used to it or ignore it.

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

I am. And mad like you. :)

Those were just a couple of my favorites off the top of my head. Though, other than Thor 3, I can't remember the last good comedy I've seen. Maybe it was Silver Linings.

Now that is interesting. :lol

Same style I imagine though.

Tucker and Dale vs Evil???

Yep. In a perfect world I might want SW to be nothing more than 3-7 "perfect" films and that's it but if Disney is going to make 50 of them there's no point in weeping and wailing about it. Just keep whatever you consider to be the core SW films and ignore the rest. If one or two or 10 of the 50 turn out awesome then that's gravy.

I mean SW *already* has like 200 hours of content if you include CW and Rebels but most people just ignore all that stuff (like we've also done with the 100+ EU novels and comics) and don't worry about it.

Is it really Thor Ragnarok is up there with TDK what a farce, look at how low we have gotten how could come to this. And it's unfortunate now every comic book movie including JL will try to emulate the " marvel formula". I guess it's the one thing that makes money now.

Since when did it become we have to have a ton of jokes and one liners to fill the seats none of the Harry potter movies, star wars or LOTR every had to do that . But now it's all that we are ever going to get I sincerely hope there is shift away from this I can't imagine Infinity war of black panther in the same format it would look foolish.

Never try to imitate always innovate. Even Josh could not recreate the success of avenge rs age of ultron was repeative of the first movie. I suspect that unless avenge rs infinity war comes with something new the audience will not care as they have already seen some form of team up already with the avenge rs in 3 previous movies

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Shouldn’t a movie be allowed to be highly praised for its own set of qualities though?

TDK is highly praised for how it uniquely handled Batman in a realistic criminal setting in a world without superheroes.

If Thor 3 set out to make a unique superhero comedy take on tragedy and it impressed the critics then why can’t it share the same RT score as TDK?

Thor 3 having the same high % as TDK doesn’t all of a sudden tarnish TDK.

Both movies just so happened to deliver a quality product on their respective take on a superhero character.

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

RT wasn't always bad, hell 10 years ago it was a solid tool.

Now it just ranks of sweatbeards and yellow teeth.

Yep, just like dogs at a dog show, lol. Just because a poodle gets a unanimous vote to win Best Poodle doesn't mean that the judges were also saying it was the best guard dog or the best dog in the whole show. :D

It would be fine if there was a subset with in this movie group but they are all roped in together all fall under comic book movies so if RT is ranking similar types of movies i naturally compare the movies against one another and that's what these so called critics do they compare them to pass judgement on them regardless of what the filmmaker was going for. Unfortunately it's all chicken in there eyes there is no dark meat or white meat sub section
