And no, terrible writing and characterization ruined the last Jedi. None of this backlash would exist if the movie had the same messages but was done well.
You're wrong. The old were not burned today. They spark against the backlash has just been kindled. And feminism has NOT ruined "The Last Jedi."

If all this is true....they you should be happy to give it up no? I mean maybe sad that the films are not giving you what you want, but now weeks after it’s over and done, you should be happy to walk away...
I can also suggest you can get your SW fix , in the more traditional archetype but reading the comics and watching the animation.

It's not just a movie. It's propaganda. Right now, people are talking about "equality" as "representation", which is what socialists call "petite bourgoise", and Nihilists call "slave morality". You're being taught that you're free, so long as people who look like you have freedom. You have power, so long as people who look like you have power. Meanwhile, egalitarianism traditionally involved worker control over production. Corporations, and the shareholders who own them have a vested interest in dissuading you from having that conversation, now more than ever.

yeah, all art is propaganda, paintings, music, movies, etc. are all designed about self expression which is always bias. propaganda is information designed to be persuasive by being biased. the fact that you’re just now figuring that out is why you’re pissy.
The Last Jedi is not the only movie to do this. They all have.

i do think it is naive and irresponsible to ignore and downplay those "toxic masculinity" links Spazz posted as being nothing but nonsense or irrelevant because like I said millenials are reading this stuff. Those articles reach millions of people. the whole "males are evil" ideology people are getting from this movie is being talked about and shared by thousands of girls and those articles are adding wood to that fire.
Sure to Us, To you and me they might be silly nonsense and they might be ridiculous click bait, but there are thousands of young people reading them and taking them at face value.

Listen not all of us have our balls retract into our bodies any time we see a woman reprimanding a man. You guys would have died in the 70's with Leia mocking and chastising Han during the entire Death Star escape that *she* had to take control of.

You think I should be outraged that Kennedy doesn't want to "cater" to me? What the hell does she owe me? Nothing. Make movies that I like and I'll support them, make ones that suck and I won't. Chicks, dudes, whatever as long as the end result is good.
She's not directing the films anyway. She hired Gareth Edwards who *did* cater to me so win/win, lol.

You know I was about to counter that it still didn't make sense to hold back the fighters but your mention of Hux solves the issue for me. The very opening scene established him as bit of an ***** when it came to using TIE's effectively (as the Dreadnaught captain angrily exclaimed "We should have launched fighters five minutes ago!") after Poe stalled to get in position to take out the turrets.
And that's all I needed, something "in universe" to explain why the Fighters weren't covering the Resistance fleet and that's the character flaw of Hux that he relies on his Destroyers too much. Nice work Neal!
