Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

I think I'd rather see a Lobot standalone movie.

Find out how he lost his hair, and the traumatic injury that gave him the implanted U-shaped TV remote.

God, I just saw the posters... everything is screaming amateur-hour :(

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Not feeling the guy playing Han..

Wish they got the Baby Driver actor instead maybe..

This guy seems a bit too old or something.. Looks kinda like Jake Black at times also :lol

Some of the visuals look cool.

Good story will help this film.

I fully accepted the entire cast of the new star trek films and not all of them looked like the original actors.. But the guy has got to do a better job in the rest of the film then what we have seen in the trailer. I hate that last "we are alright" shot.. Bad delivery and goofy looking Han.

Not feeling the guy playing Han..

:exactly:

nothing in this Trailer made me say Han.Alright got to see this. The actor Alden has no charisma at all.And sadly Woody well, is just Woody.

hope I'M wrong about this but it does not look very good.IMO

This guy is the megan fox of male actors

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Good post and I agree on a lot of your points about life and entertainment. Especially sports. I like and have played sports for the better part of my life, and I never quite understand how people are so passionate as to have memorabilia all over their house and idolizing grown men/women by knowing every conceivable fact or stat about their life, but they do and I don't judge or relay my opinions towards why they do. And for some reason that is more socially acceptable than people who are as passionate about scifi/fantasy or other "non real" entertainment. People like things for different reasons and as to why they may be so attached to something. It's not as cut and dry as simply trying to relive ones youth, or it being like a religion for some. Some people have deep emotional ties to things for who knows why, unless they personally open up about it. I don't believe you do it intentionally, but sometimes your comments can be hurtful to those who do feel a certain way. No one is better than any one else, in most aspects of life, and pointing out what you think is right or wrong with little digs can easily rub people the wrong way. That's what I meant about saying you sounded the same way you did in the TLJ thread. Using the same examples of why people don't like something. Justifying why you like it isn't OK for you to rationalize those that don't are unrealistic and should just move on.

I'm glad to hear you are a true SW fan, but as to why it resonated with you and why you can easily brush off things that don't seem to bother you as much as others, doesn't mean you should deem them a little nutty in their passion. Even though some do take it a little too far. I just smile and move on. No reason to make others feel questionable about why they are so passionate.

Go Solo!!!.... Hopefully the movie delivers far better than the trailer suggests, but I'm not holding my breathe.

Great post. I understand my Friend...

I was there too for a time. Life for the last 20 years has reoriented my view quite a bit.

I agree. Go Solo, and let’s toast to the time we will hopefully all have enjoying SW events in the future...

And also, I really didn’t not need an actor to be a twin , or even look close to the original. If they get the mannerisms down, it will be a slam dunk...

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

It is, without a doubt my favorite film franchise.....but life...is more than a film franchise. Glad at least I am consistent in that. Which is strange considering I was one of the people who said I liked TLJ quite a bit and ended up defending it more than discussing it.

I have been a fan, huge collector and avid reader of anything Star Wars related for 40 years. I have been lucky to meet most of the cast...been to the con's, spent tens of thousands in merchandise.... That does not make me special in any way.

Star Wars should NOT be as a religion is to some. It should not be bigger or more important than other experiences in my life in the real world these past 40 years. its a matter of perspective, something alot of Star Wars fans seem to have lost in the last 40 years.

I suppose if your main identity is being a Star Wars fan.....then I see your point. My point is , as we have heard many times before, that this is a universe built off a film franchise. The passion anyone has, including mysel, should always be tempered by reality. So that is why I sound casual. Not because I am, just because in light or real world things, Star Wars is Star Wars....and real life is real life. I have seen people live for sports teams as well, and forget that, in the course of their lives, there are many other things that should inspire passion besides a single , really unimportant thing, like a sports team or film.

So if we get a bad film...its ok....life moves on.....If we get a great film, awesome! Either way, the experience of seeing the film with friends and family, discussing it, and maybe even joking about it, is the real passion I have about the films....

Which is why I discuss them on a dollie forum.

For YOU it was......how you can make a blanket statement like that, and assume everyone should agree with you is beyond me.....well...it is the internet.

I liked Rouge One alot, but it was not anywhere close to the way I felt about OT as a young boy.....if you ask people , you will get a varied opinion on Rouge One.

Excellent post and I completely agree. :clap :duff :clap

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Saw the new trailer..I like the stand off with the blaster being unbuckled. The Falcon seems slow :horror but I like the shot of the destroyer chasing the falcon in the sky.

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Return of the Jedi is the only film where we see the Falcon chasing TIE fighters for a change.

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

I watched the trailer and was excited for all of a minute. But then...

The Last Jedi. I remembered the nightmare of the Last Jedi.

I don’t care for any more Star Wars movies. The OT is all I need. Done after that.

I will see this on discount Tuesday. Maybe.

It’s a gamble for Disney to start this trend of spinoff films. I understand it’s in Disney’s dna to always do this, but SW theatrically should be set up as a group of films and not yearly. Disney is going to create overkill.

I agree with this... BUT that seems to be the problem.. He does not come across as Han in these trailers mannerism wise wither.. Granted its just tiny little bits we got to see but he lacks that certain something to be Han in what we did see..

But I am more then willing to give this film a chance.

Chris Pine does not look like Shatner but he nailed the character and felt like Kirk... Hope this guy can do the same.
