Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)
Hence, why there's a group that wish this project had never been green lit, to me it goes beyond whether this movie is good or not, or whether people can accept this version of Han. I think the trailer looks fine, but wish these were all different characters. To me it signals that Lucasfilm will just milk the heroes, the names we all know, as they're too interested on cashing in.
Ultimately I suspect it means they'll be willing to eventually reboot the OT. Not only did they build the ST around bringing the old characters/actors back (smart, though obviously the execution fans may be divided on), but they're also showing they want to keep pumping out other movies with those same characters with substitute actors. I just think this will bring the young Leia movie, the young Luke movie (or Luke set at a different time). Rogue One, despite the issues I had, at least created new characters. I don't understand why they don't create something like Rogue One but with legs (something where everyone doesn't have to die and sequels or spinoffs can potentially occur).
I can imagine a situation where they cannot wait to be done with Luke in the new movies so they can have a new actor playing Luke, especially given how Hamill was so vocal about his issues with TLJ.
Seems like they are fudged either way.
Either he portrays Han just how he is in the OT and then it's nothing but scrutiny and criticism for how "off" it is or they present him totally different and have a character arc that brings him around to the OT Han, but their track record with character arcs are pretty weak so far.
