Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Well, Ingruber sure looks like a teenage Ford... but he's not a very good actor. Watch his "Ingruber imitates Han Solo" vid. Any of us could likely do that well. I would imagine the producers just felt he was too green to carry an entire movie.

Yet Disney picks the first audition... :lol who does that?

I think he overdoes the shifty eyes thing in this video but otherwise it's good.

This right here is why I don't see why anyone needed a young Han Solo movie in the first place. You have Ford and the character in their prime on a cool adventure with his pal Chewie and the Millennium Falcon. For Han, the first movie has it all. You see that first Star Wars movie and it gives you all you need to know about Han Solo. Cantina stand off, gun shootouts, dog fights, imperial disguises on an enemy base, last minute heroic rescue, all the things we know this movie are just going to ape and be lesser versions of no matter what. It's stupid.

Good news is that for anyone who feels this way there is no "young Han Solo" movie. You just get to stay home and pretend it didn't get made. I think a lot of Star Wars fans like me that have seen all of the film's more times each than we can count, watch all of the animated shows, read all of the books, fiction and non-fiction and comic books, and play the video games will be more than happy to see more of this very same stuff from characters that we enjoy if it is done well. For me, all indications are that it has been but we will see.

Yeah but hasn't it gotten to the point where it's all just derivative of the original concept? How is it enjoyable to see the same idea repeated over and over again, especially when in most cases, the first attempt at these ideas were the best iteration of what it could be.

It’s like instead of a younger Han he would come off as ESB Han or maybe Indy lol

Fair question...I think the answer comes down to me wondering how someone can enjoy eating a food that I can't stand...I just love Star Wars I guess...and with each new offering where some probably find boredom or fatigue setting in...I just find my own enthusiasm increasing. We all just like what we like. :)

Am I reading this right? The presell tickets for this film have already broke a record in presold tickets :horror

According to Variety:

Tickets for “Solo: A Star Wars Story” went on sale Thursday night on Fandango, and presales have doubled those for “Black Panther” in the first 24 hours of their release.

Shocking.:lol

Bring on the just-before-Hoth/Bespin Rogue One-esque standalone movie.:lecture

I notice how Forces of Destiny is showing us "scenes between the scenes", like when Yoda jumps on Luke's back in ESB and how Wicket introduces Leia to the tribe in ROTJ.

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

After seeing what Johnson did to Skywalker, I wouldn't mind a prequel of prime Skywalker, set a few years after ROTJ to wash the taste of TLJ. Get The Winter Soldier to play him. An adventure where he fights one of Palpatine's apprentices/Vader replacement. Put the fake Solo in there too.

His timing is all over the places -- grins unnaturally, talks unevenly, etc. I mean, if you're gonna do Han Solo's lines, do 'em right. It's already been done for you.

He strikes me as self-conscious.

I really like this idea. It’d be nice to see a seasoned, full fledged Jedi Luke for an entire film.

Yup! . But what would the internet be without people to tear stuff down...

You mean like soap opera? Or every Sitcom every made? or every sporting event in history...of course people like watching the same stuff over and over??

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

All I can say the only way this could bomb is if this guy can’t pull off Solo

Nobody can ever follow what Harrison did to the character ..making Han Iconic and Legendary but I have to believe this guy must have some talent if they decided to have him portray Han.

I hope Howard can pull this off
