Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

I can’t even get people to steal Cannibal Campout.

I so regret not watching it on amazon................... i waited too long.... i would have given you the only view :lol

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Wor-Gar has a point and i’ll add that now with Maul’s return it really drives home just how efficient the Jedi Order were at being inefficient.

If it wasn’t for Palpatine the jedi wouldn’t even have killed Dooku. :slap:

”The boy is dangerous”

Can it Obi-Wan lol

My canon has no Dooku. :lecture :D

I watched TPM last night again for the first time since before TFA came out. Uh, yeah, it's still not a "good" film by any means, lol. And I realized that allowing it back into my canon it does add the lameness of "Darth is a title" and a dorky pre-ROTJ Jabba the Hutt. But...I found that completely severing it in my mind from AOTC/ROTS the stupid parts didn't really annoy me per se, they just made me shake my head a bit.

I do like the world building, I do like Maul (a LOT!), all the Gungan and Pod Racer antics are all pretty "Holidy Special-ish" and harmless IMO. Jake Lloyd sucks but at least he's so far removed from Vader and even a proper adult Anakin (who will always simply be a young Sebastian Shaw in my mind) that he almost plays like a different character and not worth too much fuss over. Nute Gunray is hilarious and as quotable as ever. In short...TPM still pretty much sucks (lol) but eh it's more a goofy lead in to the good stuff with a enough good stuff of it's own that for now I'm allowing it back into the fold. Oh yeah Neeson and McGregor and Queen Amidala are all pretty sweet too. It was fun seeing Aurra Sing again after her reference in Solo (standing on a ledge no less, I wonder if Beckett was sneaking up at that very moment, lol.)

So yeah with regard to quality as actual films TFA/TLJ >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> TPM.

But unless Episode IX seriously reconciles the sad endings of the main three characters (and I honestly just don't see how it can at this point, a smiling Harrison Ford ghost just isn't gonna cut it) then I'll actually take TPM as canon over the entertaining but ultimately saddening ST. As always we'll see.

Sorry.

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

One other way that the ST does feel a bit disconnected from the OT/PT/Spin-offs is it's utter lack of classic background aliens. Why is that? Saw Gerrera had a Twi'lek working with him and one of Enfys Nest's gang was an orange Rodian. RO and Solo even link to each other with the overlapping of two prominent aliens (Two Tubes and big white furry guy.) I don't think that TFA/TLJ should have gratuitously crammed OT aliens into every frame or anything but having *none* anywhere almost makes the setting feel like a completely different galaxy (to me "named" aliens like Chewie and Ackbar don't count.)

And also once again the creative team for a spin-off flick comes up with a cool new TIE Fighter (heavy Fighter that chases Falcon during the Kessel Run) from the exact same era of the OT while TFA/TLJ which are set over 30 years later still show nothing but the same old H-Wing TIE. Come on now. It was fun seeing the Bombers show up in ESB and Interceptors in ROTJ. Let's get a little more creative guys, the sky is the limit for new tech over 30 years later.

Yeah, I don't get it either. I like a few of the TFA aliens, like that guy with robot arms and the goat muppet in the Resistance but even Nien Nub seems uncomfortable.

"Who are these people? When will we go back to our original galaxy? Why didn't I pass on appearing in this movie like Wedge did? I'm such a sellout. Where's Lando, I feel so alone..."

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

The most uncomfortable thing in the Sequels was Greenham Common.

It's so recognisable it destroys any semblance of a long time ago, in a galaxy far away. The 'Resistance' there was a bunch of women chained to the fences . :lol

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Look at all those women in the background. That stood out more to me than the aliens. The whole resistance and first order filled with chicks and Asians. What's next? Female robots? :chase

Men kept ruining everything so the Force flooded the galaxy with women to set things right:

Try Adywans edit of TPM. Far more palatable than the official version.
