Was cautiously optimistic about this. Now I just don't care. I'm one of the few who didn't like Rogue One, it was a complete mess and now it seems this will be the same.

Agreed 100% specially after hearing what RO was originally going to be before they fired Edwards.

Yup RO was insanely boring. And this will bomb no matter who directs it.

1 you cant Replace Ford even if it's 15 years earlier.
2 you're taking away from the mystery.

Too bad Trump's move there didn't break out into a fist fight.

Do a pay per view fight like Mayweather vs Mcgregor. :lol

What mystery, Han was already killed off in 83 then buried in 97, way before TFA.

Reading that article Rorywan posted makes me wonder if they tried to roast Han in his own movie the way they did with Batman in the Lego Movie. It's one thing to make him a comedic character who makes fun of everyone around him but if HE was the butt of all the jokes (a la Lego Batman) then I could definitely see Kennedy and Kasdan being put off by that.

Like in Indy 4.

Yeah. Or maybe they wanted to go too far the other way. Maybe Han was cool but every other line was some scathing joke at the expense of something Lucas did in the SE's or the prequels. I could see them wanting to be the voice of the fans at the expense of Lucas and Kennedy not feeling comfortable with that. Obviously we'll never know.

That or Kasdan had more coke to give out and he automatically won.

Sometimes big complex decisions are made from simple elements.

Re: Han Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Looks like this could get messy.

The DGA states there can only be one director listed on the film (or two if it's an established duo like Lord/Miller or the Russos.) If Lord and Miller fight to keep their name on the film due to the amount of work they've already done then they get to keep all benefits and royalties. LFL also wouldn't really be able to push someone else's face very credibly during PR, blu-ray special features, etc., because it'd be weird for everyone to see Ron Howard all over the place for instance if his name isn't even on the movie. Also per DGA rules directors can NOT be replaced with anyone already involved in the production (so no Kasdan taking over.)

It sounds like the ball might be in Lord and Miller's court to have final say on whether they retain sole director credit of their existing footage and they might even have the option to force an Alan Smithee credit despite whoever Kennedy gets to replace them.

Lucasfilm might be forced to scrap most or all of the already completed footage and reshoot from scratch to avoid such a mess. I know that Lester had to redo a lot of Donner's Superman II's scenes to assemble enough footage to allow his name to replace Donner's.

Obviously they could keep the existing footage, pull another Gilroy* and bring in someone who receives no credit whatsoever and leave Lord and Miller as the permanent faces and voice of the movie. But it seems like they've already waived that option by publicly announcing their "creative differences."

*obviously Gilroy never truly replaced Gareth Edwards since Edwards took part in the reshoots themselves even after Gilroy was brought in to assist.
