Re: Han Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Yeah, I've always wondered--what would Star Wars mashed up with the Davinci Code movies look like? Now I'll finally get that answer!

Re: Han Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Then why do you speak definitively as if you do?

While others report that he was:

Sounds like he was in the editing room the whole time. "But if he wasn't in charge of the final edit that means he was FIRED!" No, it means he didn't have final cut and that Gilroy was simply the personification of the studio getting the finished film they wanted which was literally no different that Lucas cutting ESB the way he wanted after Irvin Kershner did his job and offered his "input."

col·lab·o·rate
kəˈlabəˌrāt

work jointly on an activity, especially to produce or create something.

Once again *by definition* the fact that Edwards was directing Vader in the 11th hour proves he was there to the end and collaborating with anything Gilroy might have been working on at the same time. If someone is demoted from a SW picture or fired in disgrace they don't get to direct DARTH VADER and PRINCESS LEIA as severance pay. :lol Keeping Gareth onboard to personally oversee two of LFL's biggest crown jewels irrefutably proves that LFL still trusted him to deliver the goods and simply helped him out when they added his previously established collaborative partner Tony Gilroy.

Well he already has another cameo in The Last Jedi which he jokingly considers "the grandson of the Rebel who pulled the lever in RO" so his standing with LFL appears to remain as amicable as ever.

You win, you win. Too much ****ing stuff in your post to reply to. :lol

* but you don't really. Directing isn't a collaboration, unless you are a directing team like Miller & Lord. The director "had input" while Gilroy was finalising the edit? lolz

Re: Han Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Disney will never allow a director to go full left or right on a film they make... They want a film that will please audiences.....not be a major artistic statement (thank god)

So you actually want these movies to be safe, mindless popcorn?

Re: Han Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

I just realized that I haven't seen a single Ron Howard flick since 2005's Cinderella Man. I remember after Apollo 13 thinking that he'd be a good choice for one of the prequels. It'll be interesting to see how this turns out.

Re: Han Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Rush is a good film. A lot of people don't know that Geddie Lee used to drive race cars.

His Davinci Code movies are unwatchably lifeless. Bummer.

That approach didn't hurt ticket sales for Rogue One.

Yeah, he's perfect for this. I wonder how it's going to play out though, they have planned around 2 months of shooting (including reshoots whatever that means these days) the Miller/Lord team were shooting for 4-5 months. So they are not starting from scratch.

Re: Han Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Actually now that Howard is on board for a SW film I kind of wish they gave him Episode IX and moved Trevorrow to Han Solo.

Re: Han Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

It's obvious Lucas's opinion still carries weight considering Howard is one of his best friends.

Lucas/Kasdan were like "Get these ****ing dweebs away from our baby" lol

Re: Han Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

What's crazy is that a little over a month ago DiFabio and I were conspiring via PM to stage a fake blow up between him and I about RO which would lead to him being temporarily banned. Some of you make such a big deal about my RO fanboyism that I thought it'd be hilarious to watch people's reactions to me flat out banning someone just for daring to criticize it. DiFabio was totally "do it, do it!" But the minimum ban is two weeks which I thought was too much for a joke and he had so many infractions I didn't want to do something that would mess him up permanently. Plus I figured that Dave wouldn't take kindly to his mods arbitrarily banning members for the lolz.

The crazy irony is that if we'd done the two week joke ban then that would have assumedly saved him from making the post that really did put him over the line.
Khev, plz bring di back.

Now Ron Howard steps in to direct this movie. Interesting.
Hmmm, it will be interesting indeed. Looking forward to seeing this even more now.

So you actually want these movies to be safe, mindless popcorn?
Newsflash, that's what SW is, but it doesn't limit it to a run of the mill story. It's a kids/family movie first and foremost. What don't you understand about this?

Really a great flick.

Lucas/Kasdan were like "Get these ****ing dweebs away from our baby" lol

:lol the last straw was the Will Ferrel cameo at the end!

yes, would love to see a full Howard SW movie.. But Trevorrow will end up shadowing Spielberg for Episode IX.

SW is not mindless entertainment nor should it be.
