SW is not mindless entertainment nor should it be.

Keep telling yourself that mate.

Space opera with galactic samurai. Sure it's very artsy and classy, much like the canceled, small-budget Han Solo indy flick comedy.

Wow Howard directing SW..well there will be some real emotional character development in this one along with inner turmoil. Young Han might be too intense

Now I'm reminded of when concept artist Ryan Church read Kasdan's script and said it would be the "perfect SW movie" and that it made him cry or something. If Kennedy and Kasdan were genuinely trying to make a poignant film and the Jumpstreet guys instead wanted "Deadpool in space" then I'm not the least bit surprised that things didn't work out.

Well if they weren't going to focus on Young Han having a meaningful relationship with a female character and his parents , with Howard at the helm, I think we got that covered now.

That's Howard's style..maybe Han's parents will die tragically

Ron Howard hasn't made a good film in 35 years, but then again, neither has Lucas Film. He's a great choice

Dammit, that would have been a good joke if it weren't for that pesky Apollo 13 movie in '95 and Rush in 2013

Nah, no one cares about space Hanks. 90's were all about aids Hanks, cgi cowboy Hanks, and dumb but talented table tennis player Hanks.

Ron Howard has no vision as a director. He directs mediocre scripts with a workman like approach. Nothing ever stands out in his efforts. I never get excited about a forth combing Ron Howard movie. Him in combo with the poorly cast lead in this movie isn't going to be good for Disney or the StarWars brand name.

Fair enough, I don't exactly spend my time wondering when I can watch the next Ron Howard movie...but Apollo 13 and Rush happen to be Ron Howard films and they happen to be very very good.
