Re: Han Solo: An SJW Story (May 25th, 2018)

I hope you were at least able to recognize that your friend who claimed to watch the super dark hardcore "Gareth Edwards" cut was totally full of it unless he actually is Edwards, one of the film's editors, Kennedy or Gilroy.

Lol he's absolutely the real deal. You've def seen stuff he's worked on.

I'm curious as to what you think would have been a darker SW story than one that had all the good guys dying. Saving Private Ryan level gore?

While I can't discuss Edwards' original cut in detail, I can tell you about the
the way it opened.

Krennic and [Galen] Erso sit on a table outside, in a city occupied by the Empire, eating lunch. Stormtroopers carry out bodies around them, prisoners are loaded into ships and separated into camps, all kinds of chaos. Meanwhile, Krennic and Erso continue to calmly eat their lunch. They talk about a woman Krennic executed a few days earlier that's still on his mind. "I must have asked her a dozen times to tell me where they kept their munitions. I had to shoot her. This conflict is exhausting. I can't wait to go home. I need a break." Erso laughs and tells him "You're just bored. You need to focus on the 'prize'." Krennic argues "There are people who will never bow before The Emperor. People that would die a proud death challenging The Empire. Some people you just can't break." A woman suddenly breaks free from one of the prisoner lines. Stormtroopers chase her. Erso sees her running towards him [and Krennic] and knocks her down. Stormtroopers arrive and keep her at her knees with their blasters aimed at her head. They ask Krennic what to do with her. Krennic looks at Erso and tells them its Erso's problem. Erso laughs. The Stormtroopers now ask Erso what he wants them to do with her. Erso tells Krennic "The key to breaking someone's will is showing compassion." He kneels down and smiles at her and tells her "Everything's going to be alright." The woman is relieved, while Krennic rolls his eyes. Erso then gets back to his feet and shoots her in the head. Erso laughs hysterically. Krennic shakes his head and begins to laugh. Erso tells Krennic "For a minute there, you really thought I was going to let her live, didn't you?" Krennic replies "Galen, this is why I like you. You're a sadist. People like you are gonna make the Empire unstoppable." The Stormtroopers drag the woman's body away while Krennic and Erso continue eating.

That's how it opened.

Like I had told you before, the Disney cut of Edwards' movie (Gilroy's cut) completely rewrote Galen Erso's character. Jyn and Krennic are also very different but still recognizable. Krennic isn't the "**** me, nothing ever goes right for me character" in the original cut that he became in Gilroy's cut. Jyn is far more selfish and very much an anti-hero. There's more Vader. Alot more Vader.

Re: Han Solo: An SJW Story (May 25th, 2018)

Haha Good one Khev [insert Malfoy good one Goyle gif here]!

Snikt why would Lucasfilm green light a screen play where the characterization of Galen and Krennic differed so greatly to the characterization of the same characters in the prequel novel 'Catalyst'? This novels only purpose is to enhance Rogue One (for those who care for EU stuff) by providing further background and exploring the relationship between Galen, Krennic and Lyra prior to the events of Rogue One. The book must been written at the same time as Gareth shooting the movie to allow for it to be released before the movie ... seems strange that the characterization of these characters in the book fitted in seamlessly with their characterization in the final cut of the movie. If the intro version you have 'disclosed' is to be believed then that entire novel would have required a re-write after LFL decided to carry out the re-shoots.

Re: Han Solo: An SJW Story (May 25th, 2018)

Seems like Galen's the better villain in the SNIKT cut.

It's amazing how this 'friend' told SNIKT the opening in such detail that he can actually write it out word for word two years later. I mean, did he dictate the scene and let you take notes, SNIKT?

:lol

Re: Han Solo: An SJW Story (May 25th, 2018)

In the Snikt cut why would Galen 'the sadist' build in the weakness in the death star in the first place and send out a warning?

Re: Han Solo: An SJW Story (May 25th, 2018)

I'm guessing because it was all one giant sadistic social experiment like the ferries in TDK but on a galactic level.

He wanted to see who'd become as evil as him first, the Rebels or the Imperials.

Re: Han Solo: An SJW Story (May 25th, 2018)

That intro is so bad that it is basically fan fiction quality.

Even in the early trailers Galen's character was painted in a conflicted light (the leaked SDCC trailer that was never released to the public has footages of Jyn running over the fields and Krennic confronting Galen). That means that his characterization was already decided long before even the reshoot. And the trailers released before the reshoot even has parts of the opening scene in it. You are telling me in the original cut after Galen killed that woman the movie suddenly jumped to Galen living a life of exile? That flow doesn't make any sense at all.

And the extreme detail at how SNIKT could recalled it especially with specific dialogue, that is what really gave it away.

Any cop will tell you that when a suspect gives a statement that is full of clarity and specific detail and that you could do so repeatedly, they will know that you are a liar.

And the part about a lot more Vader? That is an even bigger bull. It was already said right from the start that Vader will have a minor presence. Even Gareth Edwards said that the key is to use Vader minimally. That is why he didn't write a hallway scene for Vader. He is actually worried of overusing him. Ironically it was the editor who felt that they need more Vader and pitched the scene to Kathleen Kennedy who agrees.
Can you imagine if Kathleen did not 'interfere' and allowed that scene to be shot?

It would have been the biggest missed opportunity in SW history.

I am glad the 'suits' interfered and gave us tell most iconic Vader scene ever that completely redeemed his horrible characterization from episode 3.

That must be Columbo's secret.

Oh, just one more thing, the "I'm your father" scene is still Vader's most famous moment, imo.

While that scene will forever be in my memory and one of the greatest cinematic twists, nothing gets my heart pumping like that hallway scene and that is one scene you could watch again and again and the excitement is still there.

The I am your father scene like most twists, only works once. After that the element of surprise is gone.

Well his friend may have sent him a file detailing all the changes.....

The only other possible person that saw the original cut is the editor.....The dailys guy could have seen a lot......but they usually keep quiet.

I know one and getting him to say anything is pretty tough....

Well I snuck into ILM when Knoll was pitching RO to Kennedy and for a mere $25.00 fee I can tell you the real opening of the movie.

Re: Han Solo: An SJW Story (May 25th, 2018)

Pshhhh, Kathleen (Kenedy) and I have ice cream at Ice Safari every Thursday while we discuss potential treatments, I'll just ask when I see her today. She can't resist my impeccable charm.

I bet she made Gareth wash her car every day.

Wash my car little man who is too wimpy to come out of the closet.
