Re: Han Solo: An SJW Story (May 25th, 2018)
You're taking issue with the fact that I called your post a "claim?" Why wouldn't I call it that? There's no evidence to support the scenarios you're describing other than your apparent belief in what your friend has told you.
"Gareth's original cut." There you go again. He either directed the studio approved script or he didn't.
"Probably?" I thought you knew for a fact because your friend personally watched the rough cut with the higher ups at Disney.
Here's what we know:
Trailer One in April 2016 is released with tons of footage that didn't make it into the theatrical release like Jyn running through the Scarif base with plans in hand and across the beach.
Trailer Two is released during the Summer Olympics in August with a couple other shots that didn't make it into the finished film (Jyn staring down the TIE Fighter, etc.)
Then it's revealed that Tony Gilroy was brought on board *in August* to tweak parts of the script and shoot additional footage.
Then everything stated by Gareth, the studio, the other editors, etc., all support the notion that Gilroy added additional character intros, some extra scenes at the end, and then shot a couple segue scenes to tie it all together. All the footage that we saw in the trailers is explained and fits with the timelines, there's no "he said, she said" of any kind.
But then you come and claim that LFL either approved a Tarantino-esque script from Day 1 (which contradicts all other public info) and then changed their minds literally four months before the film was going to hit theaters and had Tony Gilroy write and direct essentially a brand new movie from scratch or that Gareth Edwards somehow had been shooting his own movie unbeknownst to Kennedy and the powers that be for over a year until again, with only four months to spare, Kennedy finally realized what Gareth had done and brought Gilroy in to redo the entire movie while still being all smiles with Gareth. I'm sorry man but it just doesn't add up at all.
Lol dude, you wanted to know, I ask the guy to okay me sharing the opening and you're still saying stuff like this.

Again, you're hanging onto what you think these characters were based on footage released by the studio. What you read earlier was from footage Disney never released because they rewrote Erso's character completely along with some others. Basically, none of Erso's original scenes would make any sense if inserted into Gilroy's cut. The Erso in Gilroy's cut is essentially a good man. The Erso in Edwards' original cut isn't.

The studio probably hated what Erso was and what in result made Jyn out to be, and had Gilroy rewrite those characters.
