And if done w/ a proper noose hanging is designed to break your neck, not suffocate you. That's why in the westerns the guy falls and it's over. No struggling. Now those guys knew how do a hangin'.

True and well played, but again that was a makeshift noose. You really need the gallows to let the person fall so his/her neck can properly snap.

damn man..........................brutal brutal episode................:monkey2

Clay Morrow just signed his death warrant.

Now I almost hate Ron Perlman as much as I do Joaquin Phoenix. . . backstabbing *******s.

This ____ing blows donkeys. Only 5 episodes left and I won't get to see them because ____ing Direct TV (the only service in my area) is dropping Fox channels come Nov. 1st. :monkey1

The one thing I read at another forum is that Opie = Ophelia. I always assumed the Ophelia role was for Tara, just because Ophelia was a female, and in love with Hamlet, but when you consider naming conventions

Clay= Claudius
Gemma = Gertrude
Piney = Polonius
Opie = Ophelia.

Is Opie going to go crazy?? Yeah, probably. Crazy enough to kill himself?? I don't think so.

sutter has said there are definite elements to hamlet but doesn't want to overplay it. so who knows if it will follow it to the "t"........interesting none the less.

but i could see opie......
sacrificing himself in such a way to save a club member/members or some kind of a heroic death situation. especially after what clay did to his father.

If Jax is supposed to be Hamlet, does that mean by the end of the show..

Clay, Jax, Gemma AND Opie will all be dead!?

I wouldn't be surprised if that IS the outcome, but I doubt it. Realistically, if this show WAS Hamlet, we're nearing the end of the storyline, but I don't think we're near the end of this series, so there has to be some story AFTER everyone dies.

Jax is on the cusp of finding out Clay killed his father, but as far as Hamlet goes, it really doesn't feel like Jax would want to avenge his father anyways. It seems like he doesn't even really respect his father anymore. I think when Jax finds out, he will just leave. No vengeance, no blood, he'll just leave. That will be the final lesson that his father taught him. Guns and bullets is not the answer.

A lot of what Shakespeare wrote was archetypes, and I think Sutter's following a lot of that, but he's not following the story of Hamlet. Kinda like 'a square is a rectangle, but a rectangle is not a square'. . . I think that's how it goes.

Welcome to last year. Dish folks went through the same thing. We missed about four episodes while Fox and Dish were in a pissing contest. They finally settled and Dish ran the missed episodes.

The tree branch was a cop-out but the rest of the episode was great.

I have a feeling Clay is going to make the mistake of telling a version of events not knowing Jax was there only hours earlier. I think Jax is going to start suspecting Clay soon.

This series has sidetracked out of the Hamlet-ish storyline before. If this show goes six or seven seasons they'll probably do a couple more self contained seasons and then have a really messed up final season.

I think
Piney's death
will probably bring in a bunch of characters that knew the early days of the club, who knew John Teller. This might be the thing that put Jax back on his father's path.

They already eluded to this though in the Season 4 preview with Jax telling Tara that Clay needs to die.
