It was just announced that the blu-ray will add a picture of Kevin Feige to the Whitney Houston montage at the beginning, lol.

:lol:lol:lol

So is it final final or are there still rumors that a deal is still being negotiated?

Disney and Sony are meeting again this week and things are looking positive this time. Sounds like they both realize how much they need to reach a deal.

I’ve also heard Sony wants access to characters like Nick Fury and Falcon Cap. They really want Tom Holland in the Venom films so it may be in everyone’s interest to just back door Venom into the MCU and make all of Sony’s films MCU projects now. Venom wasn’t horrible. If making it MCU to keep Spider-Man, that’s a trade I’d be willing to make. They could easily retcon a few things and tie Venom in closer to Spider-Man.

I'd love that. I'd have no problem with that whatsoever. The Venom movie was fine, to me it felt MCU-like. And a mutual lending of characters? Great.

Disney didn't look too good either.

It's in both their interests to come to an arrangement and if what Buttmunch talked about comes to pass I'd consider that an even better arrangement than before.

Agreed! As long as all the films are connected I don’t really care which studio is ‘producing’ the film. Ideally it wouldn’t matter or even really be discernible if they are consistently collaborating.

PR wise Sony lost big time.

Sadly, yeah they did. It really sounded like Disney was at fault for wanting to alter the deal further. Yet Sony took a brunt of the backlash. Hopefully both studios have taken enough of a hit they’ll be more amicable and ready to reach a deal that benefits everyone- fans included. I think anything but keeping Spider-Man in the MCU will be awkward for both studios going forward. Endgame would now be a hollow victory with Tony literally dying to save ‘the Kid’ only to lose him a film later. Sony Spider-Man films would feel suddenly limiting after being so ingrained in the MCU. Not to mention California Adventure’s main MCU ride is going to be a Spider-Man ride :lol that’s got to be really hard for Disney to save face if they don’t still have Spider-Man in the MCU.

The fact they are even willing to meet again after Fiege’s “it wasn’t meant to last forever” comment is very hopeful. I’d be equally surprised and disappointed if a new deal wasn’t reached at this point.

They both look bad, but Sony looks worse since they are not Marvel. There is still time to work it out when calmer heads come to the table. I get both sides. Sony has the IP, but Disney is doing most of the work. Even though GOTG came out of nowhere, can Feige replicate that with the other B listers? Cap and Iron Man are gone and Spidey is still that heavy hitter that would be nice to keep.

Is this the same Sony that just asked diehard MCU fans of MCU Spiderman to give them more money for their extended cut AFTER pulling the character out of the MCU!

Give us Spiderman back you can?t have him in the MCU!

Hey MCU fans come see our extended cut!

Wut!

Look i?m no Sony hater I love their Playstation platform ever since September 1995 and their contribution to home electronics is legendary even though the Korean/Chinese brands are kicking Sony?s *** right now when it comes to TVs and Sony is a nobody when it comes to streaming, they?re in trouble.

But Marvel gave the world a solid 11 years worth of quality entertainment they have earned back the right to try and purchase back their characters after having to sell them off under difficult circumstances 24 years ago while under totally different management and ownership.

Ok so Disney owns Marvel boo hoo whatever a hundred other companies could?ve also bought Marvel but they didn?t oh well can?t blame Disney for making the right move at the right time.

Sony should be grateful the Broccoli?s don?t give Bond to Disney lol

That's good news. At least the door isn't completely closed.

I agree both studios did not look good but I feel Sony took a bigger hit than Marvel. It's in their mutual interest to strike a deal IMO.

Ugh.... mixing Sony with Marvel... crossing the streams.... cheapening a brand that has peaked...

Sony needs Spiderman a lot more than Marvel needs Spiderman... and Sony brings nothing to the table beyond its sticky claws on Spidey.

Maybe Spidey should have done the Snap...?

I'm really looking forward to seeing if the brand has indeed "peaked". I remember back in A1 a lot of people thought the MCU has peaked.

True... but they still had a 10 year plan back then. Now... nothing. The plan is the key.

Nothing Marvel has shown or teased looks like its even intended to hold a candle to Infinity War/Endgame. How can it not be a valley at this point comparatively? No matter what, they need to build again to the next peak.

Galactus seems the next logical threat now that the Fantastic Four are back. Phase 4 will definitely be a building/introduction phase but that?s necessary every so often. They can?t all be the biggest threat yet. The fact all three films this year grossed over a billion each seems that audiences haven?t grown tired yet. And the fact this year?s Spider-Man was the biggest Spider-Man film yet proves he is a character worth fighting for. With so many original Avengers out, he?s a necessary anchor. The MCU could survive the loss of any single character, sure, but eventually they add up. Phase 4 is introducing a lot of new characters with only a handful of sequels of existing characters. There is a high probability some of these new characters/groups won?t click with audiences- heck they are even going to have to be careful how they introduce the Fantastic Four given their previous box office struggles and they are far more well known than anyone in the Eternals.

Given the choice of losing Spider-Man or dealing with some Sony stinkers mixed into the MCU, I?ll take the stinkers. Not every MCU film has been great. There have been a couple of missteps but nothing that broke the franchise. As long as marvel has to sign off on every Sony project, they should at least be decent.

I don?t think there is a solution that will please everyone- Disney, Sony, or fans but keeping Spider-Man in the MCU seems to be the best option for everyone. Just how expansive that deal needs to be, I don?t know. I just hope a long term deal can be reached so we don?t have to deal with this problem every few years.

Yeah I think Phase 4 is all about laying new ground work. Phase 4 is essentially Phase 1 all over again. They'll lay the ground work for new characters then they'll use that to setup the big band. Phase 5 will probably be all about building up that new big bad with Phase 6 finally getting the heroes to start addressing the big bad.

By the end of Phase 4, we'll probably have a better idea on whether or not the MCU has indeed peaked.

You know which characters are not only older than me but will also outlive me?

Spiderman, Wolverine, Batman, Superman, Joker. My apologies for leaving out another 100 more characters lol

Yes everything has a cinematic shelf life and yes these characters will one day go on hiatus but their cinematic longevity will always find another peak because replacements characters simply don?t exist to take their places.

How do you know Marvel doesn't have a plan?

I'd doubt they'd spend 11 years making films, following a well laid out plan, to just wing it later on.
