Would have actually considered this if they didn't smear it with ****** airbrushed black marks.

Either do "battle damage" properly or don't do it at all Hot Toys.

I agree that the "battle damage" is really half-ass. Just looks like the guy putting it in the box got broken sharpie marker all over his fingers first.

Paintwork on the sculpt is really nice though, little step up I think from the Far From Home release. Definitely has not gotten any softer in details from reuse.

Shame it looks like a swimming cap and goggles from a distance. But the only real reason to get this set is for that cool diorama base.

I was thinking about this again recently - why Hot Toys don't do battle-damaged Spidermans - is it because they can't mass produce accurate looking battle-damage to a costume such as Spiderman's? And with the costume being a thin material stretched over an articulated doll body if they put actual holes in it those holes would get larger and larger with use till eventually the outfit would disintegrate?

Right. And I get that they can't put actual tears in the costume for that reason. And those really cool custom versions are basically statues at that point. But I think there's a lot more that could be done with just paint.

I'm already happy with the FFH figure, but shoot I may bite for that new diorama

Hmm, that could be it. Come to think of it, besides some Iron Mans, has HT ever solicited a full on battle-damaged figure of a figure that was suited/clothed? (edit - a few of the Terminator figures were iirc)

Had this on preordered but just canceled it. Just not battle damaged enough and the scuffs just dont look as good on this as the prototype to me.

Proper battle damage could also be a thing that Marvel/Disney does not allow. Def not getting this now but if I can’t get the cool accessories parted out at a reasonable price, which is pretty much impossible at this point, will probably pick this up from the bargain bin.

Given covid, economies plus some greedy greedy etailers, parting out is no longer the viable solution it once was.
