I'm looking forward to having the definitive AOTC Obi-Wan in my collection, no more Hasbro parts, proper white undershirt that contrasts with the tunic, nice pair of boots.

Now that I've got offical word and understanding of the situation, excitement kicks in. Perhaps this will be a newsletter item this week.

Truthfully, I wasn't much a fan until the prequels. Ewan really made the character interesting for me and added depth to Guiness's protrayal with all the new traits and such you could read into his performance.

Bought a ROTS Obi Wan off evil bay a few weeks back...but put him in storage till christmas. A nice little something for me to open on christmas day

Hopefully that will keep me happy till AOTC obi arrives.

I can't speak too much. My Iron Man collection runs similar to this. I have 2 red and gold Comiquette just so I can display them one Tony Sculpt sculpt and one helmeted. I'm considering doing the same with the Classic version.

Well, the pics of this thing in the box are not what I had hoped. Not much I can do about that now I suppose. If, indeed, it does underwhelm in hand as it does with these pics I can try to have the head re-painted or come across another Obi head I'd prefer more.

I dislike the idea of having to fix what shouldn't have to be fixed in the first place, but I was taking my chances pre-ordering without actually seeing the final product.

Ok guys, I know I promised to take pics of the actual product from the shop but I won't be doing that now. I went to the shop today and found out that since I posted in this thread and linked the forum, the shop has been getting influx of mails (I assumed from members here) accusing the shop of bogus listing and selling a fake item because the item looks less than steller from their pics in their forums.

There were also mails saying that SS CS on the phone confirmed that the item is definitely not out yet and the shop is less than honest and selling a fake product.

I have known the owner for more than a decade and my actions have directly affected the reputation of his store and I feel bad about this.

Thankfully Maulfan has managed to get word from SS confirming the released of this item internationally and if he didn't, who knows how many more of such mails they will be getting?

I am really disappointed at how quick some member/s here accused me and the shop of BS.

I have been posting extensively in the DC section and have been providing HT insiders news (which are all accurate) from time to time here and many members here have been buying from XL-Shop and I was really surprised by the reaction to my initial posting here. It's not like I am posting for the time here.

In fact you guys should be pointing hands to SS for screwing you guys over with the release date and also at how the final product being less than stellar (It is to be expected from SS, nothing weird).

Noise, you make some valid points, but there are also things that favor the reaction of some people around here to the news.

Sideshow has been bootlegged/recast whatever you want to call it plenty of times, it's so bad they have actually added a page to their site to report illegitimate eBay auctions and things like that.

Some folks are so keen to ripoff, they can fake having a product very close to legit.

So when the board is told a shop has an item in hand, when the manufacturer's release date is 4 months out and hasn't been updated, and there's a history of knockoff and bogus things, it's a bit natural to jump to the conclusion that something's fishy.

Now, the tact with which those assumptions are handled can be better. I don't think it's right to go mailing accussations and things to this store. To me, the rational thing would be what I did, contact Sideshow regarding the matter, get an answer, and move forward with fact.

Lesson to be learned, nothing wrong with coming to conclusions, but handle yourselves carefully when working off assumption, get facts before going too far.

Seriously, that is lame if people were actually taking this so seriously that they were emailing nasty letters to that store. Its the holiday season people get a grip. How pathetic.

This item is already available on ebay from HK Sellers. Therefore, this item is definitely the real thing and not a bootleg. One of the HK Seller even list the release date as 15 Dec 08.
