That's how I feel as well. The current price for a very nice Han figure is more than fine for me, very much worth the cost. If things go over the $100 mark, then things get a bit harder. Which is why I have to be so choosy with my HT purchases.

Yup, I've only got two HT figures in hand and two more on order (all from POTC), and Medicom is the same with how selective I am. Not to mention when they start hitting that price range I expect as close to perfect as can be reached on a figure. I mean things like the gun holster area on my Jango having to be super glued isn't really acceptable.

I agree with you about the holster, but that shouldn't acceptable at any price range especially 120-150.

I just noticed an e-tailer selling the new First Blood Rambo for near $70. Only about $5 more than the new Han.

:rotfl:rotfl:lol

Although you are right, the V1 Rambo has been the cheapest release I've seen from HT. Its a very nice figure, but a bit light on accessories and what not which would lead to the lower base price.

Being the impatient barstool that I am, I havent been waiting or buying that many SS figures !

Ive been buying certain hasblows (ones I can work with, not all) and customising them. Or certain Sideshow ones - Secondary off evilbay or certain Medicoms - Primarilly from Sideshow

With the price of an SS figure increasing and the quality decreasing or standing still (eg if I want large heads on my 1:6th figures ill buy Hasblo or a bobblehead or if I want certain uniform inaccuracies Ill again buy Hasblo or Ill make them myself)

its getting to the stage where Im not like the dog with its tongue hanging out looking toward SS for the next announcement (as I used to be)

Dont get me wrong Im interested, but no where near as interested as when I first started collecting ! but Im only interested if certain criteria are met

- Is the figure decent - eg no bobblehead decent clothes, screen accurate ?

- Is the figure a decent price ?

and

tbh

The way that Sideshow currently announces a new figure

1. Piss.es me off
2. Makes me lose interest

This teaser sneak a peak of the headsculpt (from the one angle that works) behind the scenes annoucement. One pic ???????

You want me interested ????????

Show me the figure front back and sides

Show me you got things right about the figure ! make me want it !

I dont mind paying for it then !

If someone was to ask me to blindly buy Medicom - Id consider it

If someone asked me to do the same of Sideshow - I couldnt

Sideshow has its place between the Hasblos and the Medicoms

They should be better than 1 and worse than the other

this should work for both quality and price !

The one thing that SS seems to have got right is the fact that they dont charge a deposit or give a cancellation fee

Theyd be out of business if they did ! Everyone buys using PPO and spends 3 months with their finger over the cancellation button ! and by the looks of Ebay alot of em press it !

I've been contemplating the last few months about stopping my completist SW ways and venture into other lines to get a figure here and there such as the POTC, etc.

The defenders of SSC can take this as a whine or whatever, but if HT or Medicom prices don't also go up I will follow through with that and move some of my money from SSC to those companies.

I am sure there are many more like myself.

So I say to all the smug people saying that we "whiners" should stuff it or leave or whatever that if we follow through with that, it will have some negative impact to you as well. Because the fewer that collect the line, the farther the prices will go up and the less likely SSC will be willing to make certain figures, etc.

Of course, I think some of you would enjoy having less collectors around and would gladly overpay to ensure that.

So I don't know what the point is other than to say that the natural course of things (people complaining when dissatisfied) is good and shouldn't have people around here styfling it. Peace.:monkey3

There's always someone willing to fill your shoes when it comes to SW. No matter the price.

Not sure about that. The secondary market is the indicator of who else is waiting in the wings for product and the secondary market prices don't exactly "fill the shoes" of the primary market right now.

I think when it comes to the 1:6 line, Sideshow doesn't care all that much about the secondary market.

I know.

I mean to imply that secondary market is an indicator of how much the people not buying from the primary market are willing to pay.

So therefore, if the secondary market people have to "fill the shoes" of any primary market people that may leave because of SSC raising prices, all indications is they won't because those secondary people aren't paying retail as is.

Yeah, people can wait on the secondary market but I still think overall there are more than enough people to fill the shoes at the current price levels.

Guess we are looking exclusives here ?

Han inclusive on ebay - Im guessing youd pick that up for about $55 about 2 months after release

$40 if your lucky

Im also thinking this will be my 2nd Han - was quite happy with my Bespin Han until I saw Smuggler
Now Im thinking $65 + shipping for another Han ? sooner pay that for a character I aint got !

It may be true. I don't know exactly what the price level is where that will cease to be true, but Capt. Obvious would tell you that there is at least some level in which it would turn. :D

I would say just for your sanity not being a completist is a good thing. Why feel compelled to buy a product if you don't like it or think its overpriced, just because you have to have them all?

Buy what you like and be happy with it... at least thats my feel on it.

As I've said, I know where my limit is, and so far I've liked everything to varying degrees so my Completists Disease isn't hurting yet. Now when we get to EU that doesn't interest me then I will be choosy, but right now even with the jump I'm still up for whatever comes out.

For the record, my limit on a Basic Han Solo type figure is probably $75-100 depending on any improvements made. At the current level though with the Buck I'd probably get choosy at about another $5 price jump.

I agree with Memnoch.. If these get into the $70+ range with no new body, I will then start to feel more reluctant to buy these.

I agree, but I can also see completist tendencies in myself, and I can understand how to a lot of people it is the act of collecting the entire line that gives them enjoyment, moreso than any particular figure.

But regardless of whether it is a good idea to be a completist or not, Sideshow should not ignore the completists, because once they alienate them, they lose a large part of their base.
