One factor everyone always overlooks when it comes to the SW line is Lucasfilm Approval. For every step of the creative process, SSC has to get LFL approval, and as we know, those guys are never happy and make a lot of odd choices and changes to what SSC is trying to create. We see great headsculpts get replaced, we see odd costume inaccuracies, all at the request of LFL. That means more development ends up getting invested into the figure making process for this line. If it takes more man power and time to create something, a company must raise the price to make a profit.

Really simple business math. Work and time investment is comparable to end price for the product. Funny thing is, being Star Wars collectibles, they would still sell at $100 each. Sure, all the forum people would complain, but they'd by it still. Furthermore, the online forum community only makes up less than 1-4% of the Star Wars buying community... and that's probably way too big of a fraction.

Correct. There are so many factors as to the price people just don't think about it they'd rather ***** first and think second.

I guess, but we're comparing prices from the first Star Wars figures with those of the current line. They would have had to deal with LFL for the earlier figures as well. Or are you saying that Lucasfilm got a lot more strict in the last two years?

Then everybody skips over this which is a valid point.

How boring. So predictable. I always know beforehand who will take Sideshows side, no matter what they do, or how much money they ask for the same old shoe. Even the argumentation don't surprise me anymore. There are truly very few critical Sideshow fans left, so it seems. And those that are critical, are stultified. Well, if you think it helps, so be it.

If you have a problem with Sideshows price policy, LET THEM KNOW! Send them a mail, or leave a comment on their site. That's what I do. Much more efficient.

I would have to agree with this statement.

Never get into bed with just 1 lady

Have a lot of ladies - that way if one upsets you

Kick her out of bed !

My 2 pennies worth (cents for our Yankeeeee friends)

So dont get uppity SS or ill ***** slap you back to next week ! (in a financially figurative sense)

It's not just inflation that causes the price increases, but the other market factors I alluded to in my previous posts. Someone mentioned the Vampyre when SST 12" were $25. But they were trying to make it by distributing to retailers and the edition sizes were far, far larger - I don't know the figures, but 25,000 gets tossed around for some of the early figures like Frankenstein and Buffy. But they quickly realized that marketing model doesn't work.

In a world where most 1/6 manufacturers don't survive, heck most collectible manufacturers don't survive, they have to keep changing to stay alive. Look at MR, bought out by a larger company that seems to have no interest in keeping the collectible side going, Majestic - who had some great licenses and couldn't make them work, even Hasbro stopped making 12" GI Joe.

So the pricing has to change to keep the company alive - if they can't make the money on SW, then they can't make money on anything and the company will collapse.

So when the new body debuts, I fully expect the price to go up again. And if the new body debuts with an armored figure then I expect we'll have this discussion again.

I would recommend to SSC that they get out in front of it though, like they did with the PVC Boba Fett. Tell the collectors what's going on and why.

I don't think Indy will be $100, but $75 seems pretty likely with all that will go into his clothing and accessories.

Yeah, $70-$75. I'd shocked if it's more than that.

If it is, it better be top of the line. I'm talking new body, real shoes with laces, cloth hat, the woiks.

I figure the Indy figures will be more in line with the LOTR pricing due to the licensing and detail of the pieces. Also this is the price range for all the Indy collectibles:

Sideshow's product line will be inclusive of all four Indiana Jones films and will include 12-inch Figures, Premium Format Figures, and Life-size Busts that will range in price from $69.99 to $599.99

I agree this topic of increase in price should be addressed by sideshow.

I won't complain about price if Indy has an all new body that revolutionizes the 1/6 industry with perfect proportions and beats out Hot Toys (fixes abnormal shoulder joints) and the never to be released EVO/EVA bodies from Triad Toys.

Seriously, Sideshow needs to knock the new body out of the park because they will be using it for the next decade or so.

all i want is arms that bend all the way at the elbow like hot toys. there are so many poses i cant achieve because of this.

There are many issues I have with the Buck body. But with figures like Han Solo who wears 3/4 length sleeves, an attractive wrist joint would really help the presentation.
