I’m going to call asta if I see one more post about TLJ I’m super serial
Okay, here's a pivot back to the Ahsoka show.

I'm curious to see if they'll have her locate Ezra and Thrawn by using the World Between Worlds. If so, she'll potentially have access to witnessing everything that happens in the future (Kylo/Snoke/Palpatine). I'd be very curious to see how they avoid the obvious problems that would cause.

O no man I was kidding. Discuss what you want lol. I’m not like that

I generally like Laura Dern in her other movies, but when she shows up on the deck of that spaceship in that damn purple ballroom dress and her weird giraffe neck and that stupid purple wig on, I just get filled with unreasonable rage.

What a horribly written, contemptible and loathsome character.

She's not even fun in a "so bad you love to hate her" kind of way like that mean old school teacher lady in Harry Potter. She's just a repugnant character for how tone deaf every aspect of her character is, from personality to design to dialogue. Were we supposed to LIKE her? Everything about her is detestable.

Anyway.

Sorry...this is the Ahsoka thread. Off on a tangent there.

Here's my question about Ahsoka.....those things on her head are called "lekku." Isn't that just a truly disgusting word for a rather disgusting concept? They're big jiggly growths coming out of her head. Ick. I hate how they jiggle. Is there some kind of sexual/reproductive purpose of the lekku? Do you rub lekku together like how the Na'vi do it in Avatar?

Does anyone else hate lekku or only me?
While I didn't care for Holdo (especially her look), I blame Rian Johnson for her more than Laura Dern. I was more annoyed that he felt the need to build up her and Leia by making Poe Dameron look like a bumbling idiot who was incapable of seeing the bigger picture. I don't know what was worse, that or having them keep their destination a secret from the crew. Talk about illogical leadership decisions.
As for the rest of TLJ, I DID really like how Luke used Force projection to school Kylo at the end. I thought that was an elegant way for him to (a) "face down the entire First Order with only a laser sword" while (b) demonstrating true mastery of the Force. Mind you, I didn't like ANY of backstory that led Luke to that point, but I did like that. Initially I wasn't thrilled that he died doing so, but he saved everyone in the process so I'm not sure he could have a more heroic end. It was at least as good as Obi-Wan's disappearing act in A New Hope.

As for Ahsoka's lekku, you're on your own there. :lol

I'd assumed Thrawn found a way back himself, rather than someone finding him and helping him return. Aksoka knows Thrawn has returned, so she's seeking him out to find Ezra and he and Thrawn vanished together.
Given that the Empire has fallen, palpatine (I'm assuming as far as he knows) is dead. Why is Thrawn trying to rebuild the Empire? He only allied himself to the Empire because of their power and their use in the Chiss fight with their own enemies in the unknown regions.
The Empire has fallen. The New Republic, despite their flaws are the new power. Surely they'd represent the better ally against Chiss enemies currently?
Or is Thrawn just a diehard Imperial now? (Which isn't the impression I got from reading the new canon Thrawn books)

I'm assuming that the Thrawn in this series will be more like the version in Rebels, which I consider a drastic departure from how he is portrayed in the novels (both old EU and new canon ones). His motives for Imperial affiliation are up to Filoni.

And I suspect the World Between Worlds will play a factor in this show, one way or the other. I'll be watching for Thrawn, but bound to be shaking my head at WBW nonsense. Then I'll bolt once I've seen that live action Thrawn is inferior to Zahn's version.

Steve Zahn has played Thrawn? I missed that one...

Yes, the new canon Thrawn in Zahn's book didn't come across as an out and out villain. He had a reason for allying with the Imperials.
I don't remember the Rebels show enough to really tease apart the differences between Filoni's Thrawn and Zahn's but I do remember barely recognising Filoni's Thrawn. It just wasn't the same.

Rebels Thrawn was more of an archetype villain, and nowhere near as layered or nuanced. But that may be just because he was being used in an animated show targeting younger audiences, thereby keeping things basic. I hope the live-action version will have motivations more aligned with the novels, but not holding my breath.

Yeah I hope the same but I'm not convinced Filoni really understands Thrawn or that his writing will be different for live action. We can only hope for the best. Who knows, maybe Filoni read all of Zahn's Thrawn books and now appreciates Thrawn on a deeper level than "he likes art".

Filoni definitely read the books. I have no doubt about that, and don't even doubt that he understands Thrawn's characterization in those stories. The question is just what goal he has for using Thrawn in terms of serving the Mandoverse story. If he doesn't want to introduce the Chiss and all of the backstory involving the threats to them that Thrawn is most preoccupied with, then we might get a more basic type of villain. I also worry that the writing of Thrawn's intellect will suffer. Zahn did a great job with that aspect, and I'm not sure the Ahsoka writing will be up to that sort of carefully-crafted strategist standard.

I think ultimately no one can write Thrawn like Zahn.

Evazan's murder ended the only doctors office in Mos Eisley, and the Baba kids never saw dad Ponda ever again.:lol
They are both alive, as you can hear them bitching about losing an are and getting sliced….
