Even though I debated Deedzy over the legal definition of gambling at the end of the day Deedzy is right the game is a serious hot mess.

Just because I bought it and I am having fun with it does it mean that the game doesn’t have serious progression issues because it most certainly does.

I almost got a refund on it but my son changed my mind and that’s fine he enjoys playing it with me watching BUT I hope that EA/DICE are getting reamed by Disney right now.

How the hell are they going to change the core structure of this game is the big question now.

This botched release is huge industry news, how it was able to get this far is mind boggling.

While I’m glad they lowered the prices for Luke and Vader, if you’re a decent player you can unlock them. I already have Luke and will get Vader this week. And I barely play too. Don’t see why people are making a big deal since every shooter now has pay to win practically. CoD is a big supporter of it.

Oh dear......

The reason you were able to unlock Luke and Vader relatively easily is because gamers DID make a big deal out of it.

You are absolutely correct though, companies have been sneaking more of these micro transactions into our games for a few years now but it's only in the last couple that they've become particularly obnoxious culminating in an all new low here with battlefront 2.

As for every shooter having it, does that make it right? So we should just roll over and let them do us dry like good little consumers?

There’s a market for these companies to make money off gamers who want the best and gear from the get go. Same reason why some people order direct HK to get their figures first. If I could choose to pay money instead of wasting countless hours to grind. I would opt for it too. There will always be people who prefer to pay rather than wait in lines. Market for everything. It’s unfortunate but true. Can it be less rewarding? Of course. Companies just need to find a middle ground and not take advantage. But it isn’t going away anytime soon.

Very fair and valid point but the implementation in this game is the worst version ever of that monetary system in any triple AAA game.

If implemented correctly i’m also ok with it.

Your point? Doesn't make it any less of a significant figure and I'll bet the head honchos at both EA and DICE most definitely aren't laughing.

I am looking forward seeing what changes are made, hopefully they are significant enough to warrant me buying it as I would like a star wars fix

it’s just funny. first the media rolls with fake death threats to a “DICE” employee (he turned out to not be one), and then they stretch this story as if ALL copies are down.

My point is don’t believe everything you read just because it’s a news story.

The progression sucks, other than that it’s a really great time.

Sales would probably be lower than the first game anyways, but it's going to be difficult to know what the actual sales are, I'm guessing we'll hear some news at some point (maybe EA's next earnings call) where they say that sales of BF2 are lower than expectations. The question though is where do they go from here? Will they try to do a BF3? I'm sure this will make money, but since it's not going to be as profitable as the first game they might not want to do another.

I doubt EA/DICE are keeping the license they’re done with BF if not SW all entirely.

This release is a PR disaster for them you think they would’ve learned AFTER the PR disaster of the first one!

Will Disney allow it a 3rd time, doubt it.

The people at EA just need to stop thinking they can get away with nonsense like this. But they keep screwing up. Some can only learn the hard way.

that’s another point too, people need to lay off DICE, EA makes decisions like what’s included in lootboxes or even if there will be lootboxes. DICE just has to make a game around those demands, and i have to give it to them, they really did make a solid shooter. once the patch comes out to fix the progression issues it will be a great AAA title.

What I been saying....the "developers" have not say in most of this stuff. They code, make art and sound, etc. to feed their families.

It is the suits that play to the shareholders / investors that screw everything up.

Back to EA and microtransactions...
I just find it ironic...
https://www.gamasutra.com/view/news...saction_pressure_in_latest_Need_for_Speed.php

Basically the it seems to the problem boils down to...a player can grind everything out, but they are just putting crazy requirements to things that make "paying up" that much more enticing.
"Paying Up" wouldnt be that big of a deal....if customers didnt already pay the initial price to get the game.

If BF2 was F2P, there would be much less noise. Or if the game was like 20 bucks.

If EA loses the license . Good! ****ing good. I’m baffled they used those idiots in the first place. They are so many better developers out there and you use the most greedy one. Yea people like money but EA goes to a whole nother level.

Witcher 3 developers made plenty of dough off of a well made game, no micro transactions to be found.

That's why I don't even think about DICE when I complain about this game, EA is pulling the strings after all.

It's a little worse than the standard 'pay up and get everything' approach, though. Loot boxes mean you're effectively gambling whenever you go for an item. I don't care if it's cosmetic stuff as in Overwatch, but with Battlefront there are items that can give you an edge in the game, like better grenades and shields. So you could spend a bunch of money and still not get the item you're looking for, and your odds are even worse as a player who's not spending real money, since you get them much less frequently.

That's why I don't even think about DICE when I complain about this game, EA is pulling the strings after all.

DICE still produced a buggy game with an incomplete campaign after two years. Maybe EA pressure was part of the equation, but a few parties dropped the ball here
