Ahhh man, Free Radical were one of the best companies around, it was such a shame what happened to them! They certainly looked to have things in order alright. Imagine the modern day equivalent if Free Radical were around to do this now!!..

Notice also how he goes from ground to space..

I'm guessing there were a ton of layoffs, but technically Free Radical is developing the game. I didn't know they became Crytek UK; who are developing.

FR did an amazing job and was a great company, what worries me is Crytek's resume. They all have this mindless shooting, in comparison to what BF was.

If this game doesn't do well, I'd rather a remastered with Frostbite or Cryengine, of 1 and 2 for the Ps4 and XBONE

What ended up happening is that that version there was not optimized, once they started working on getting the multiplayer to work and get it to run at a good framerate they ended up having to cut features and the game got delayed until the point that it was cancelled.

Disappointed in the lack of features but if the game-play itself is good I'll be happy. I played the original two Battlefronts on PS2 for several hours at a time, and never got bored. It was addicting. I hope I get the same feeling with this game.

Got to admit. Bit disappointed by the lack of features. So much was "promised" or hoped for. They are obviously aiming a bit lower. Most likely due to the forced release date caused by the upcoming movie. What a shame...

How do you know that? This one has a much larger budget so should be achieving a lot more.

Games have gotten considerably more complex over time, not just the graphics which are probably still a huge portion of the development time. For example, with the Jedi Knight games there was like one or two people that did the multiplayer online implementation, there's no way these days that you could get the online code done by that few people.

That's a myth, any AAA game can be done by 20-30 competent people in 2 years max.
Unfortunately when big bucks are required there are always lots of needless complications created by knee-deep in fear producers.
Like everything else, it's a vicious cycle of stupid.

Honestly, I don't get this arguament about graphics being better now which is harder to make. When SW:BF2 released, they were outstanding graphics for the time so that development team were in exactly the same position. It is a cop out at best. A lot of the content for this was scanned from props, which is nice to see of course, but not harder than building one from the ground up. And the physics etc come from the engine for the most part. What is more complex now really? Battlefront had it all a decade ago, including a really impressive multiplayer. I'm really surprised so many people are trying to justify this game which is seriously lacking in any real content. I couldn't be much more disappointed personally, even if the gameplay is awesome which I really hope it is. EA are very screwing us, but then what's new. Even Dice are a little deluded though, they were tweeting about how they were going to break the internet, and what did they do? Released a rendered video and some underwhelming information. Errgh, I so hope they are holding a lot back...
