I'll say after attending both CIII & CIV and SDCC since 2006, I found that while the Celebrations were really cool to geek out on SW with many other SW geeks, they offered less for more money than ANY of the SDCC's I've gone to. By the 2nd or 3rd day I'd seen everything I was interested in and ended up selling or giving away my Sunday pass at each one. Dont get me wrong, they are cool, but they just seem like less value for your buck in terms of con offerings. I'd love to go to CV, but it's too damn close to SDCC and a I aint missing SDCC for nothing, not even SW.
Plus, all the Celebration exclusives end up online for decent prices.
That said, if you are an R2 builder, 501 costumer, or something like that, then Celebration is the place ya outta be!

Since DCFett was talking about the amount of things that he saw at the Celebrations that he attended.....I took it upon myself to investigate the size of the convention center to get a general idea of how big this is gonna be.

I compared the Orange County Convention Center to the one in San Diego. I've been to them both and they both seem pretty big!

OCCC: TOTAL 1,103,538 SQUARE FEET

SDCCC: TOTAL 1,386,122 SQUARE FEET

I know...I know....this might not mean anything... but by seeing that they both have about the same sq footage (SDCCC is bigger tho)....it gives me more confidence that maybe there is gonna be alot of stuff to see and do!

I've been to every Megacon for the last 4 years and they usually do it in Hall C...and altho it's a spec compared to the SDCC....it can pack a shat load of people...(stinky people)

Here are a few pics of last years Megacon so u guys can have an idea of what to expect:

Hope it doesnt sound like I'm poo-pooing the CIV. I'm just saying for me and my taste, I wasnt interested in seeing backyard professional light saber duels by the 3rd and 4th day. I still think it's a great con and will be a great con, it's just that if your interest are as varied as say...this website, then SDCC offers more. I want to go, really I do, but I wont be too sad if I dont.
Avfin, you're from MI! Me too! I hope you have a good time. I havent completely written it off, but I already had my SDCC tix before this was announced, so not sure if I can swing both so close together.
I really do wish you guys a great time.

Nah, I don't think you're poo-pooing on CV. It just boils down to one's taste. For instance, I'd much rather go to a Celebration because I'm not interested in Marvel or DC and other genres like that, I only collect Star Wars stuff and have never been a huge fan of most comic-related books, movies, etc. I realize that SDCC is much more than just a convention about comics, but as a whole, the stuff they have there doesn't interest me as much as CV. However, that's not to say I don't want to attend a SDCC, because I surely do. Never been to one. Maybe if Bam and some of the other Florida Freaks are going next year, I'll go with.

Agen, you would be blown away by San Diego. My wife enjoys going and she don't read/collect this stuff. Go if you can man, it's awesome.

OMG Agen!! There is so much more than just Marvel and DC at comic con!!! U would definitely love it there!!!!!!!
LET GO BABY!! I'm game for 2011!!!

Listen, no excuses! :nono

You have plenty of time to save! I'm planning on going overseas next year, going to CV, and now SDCC, so I'm bustin' my ass for the money - but I'm gonna do it!

So that's you on Colonial?? I thought i saw someone familiar working the streets?! :monkey5

A bunch of us should try to get together and get breakfast and hangout while we are at the convention. My wife isn’t going and there aren’t any freaks around here in Ocala and I think it would be cool to hangout.
