Is this going to be the only TPM release then? I was expecting some more announcements by now.

Doubtful. They've been wrapped up with this Dark Side event and showing off stuff from that, Maul fits in with it.

The actual Phantom Menace anniversary is in two weeks, maybe we see Padawan Obi-Wan then. Or maybe they'll wait until the end of the year like they did for AOTC.

Would imagine they'll put out the B1 Battle Droid in the right color since they already have the mould made. Maybe another Padme of some sort, the red combat outfit from the end or something.

Personally I'd love if they make Plo Koon because I want more Jedi, or Nute Gunray, for another baddie.

I appreciate that you take the time to pose your figures with other things, and make them dynamic. Some of them go on still a bit too long for me (particularly the last one where you compared the previous ROTJ Luke to the Mando Luke -- which by the way, I agree with you. I hated "Mouthbreather Luke" from the moment I saw it, and didn't even consider PO'ing the thing), but your grievance in that video went on a bit long (sorry, just mho); you could have shown them side by side as you did and said your piece within less than 30 seconds and then got back to the Mando Luke. These, of course, are just my opinions, and you do you. I tend to avoid video reviews altogether for all the reasons I mentioned above. (I did, however, really like your second video above regarding the Anakin figure -- relatively short, and to the point, and some great action poses, and nice closeups of the sculpt -- which, lets face it, is the most important part of any of these figures. And I do appreciate that you get right to the figure in that one and don't waste time showing the freaking box, or the clam-shell unboxing.

I really wanted to emphasize how much I LOATHED the RoTJ portrait. I hate it with the fiery intensity of a thousand suns. That’s why I spent so much time on that segment

Ugh, that Qui Gon was such a disappointment. We definitely need an update for that one.

Just who the hell has a finger in the clicks here? Dudes videos look good. He absolutely is not reviewing the figure by any stretch of the imagination.

First 4K "review" up takes it? Is that the thing?

Dude I don’t know MRC personally but he’s 100% providing a service to the hobby… he has the first high quality video of figures in hand upon release so everyone can get a good look. He earned the right to get his videos up first because he takes public transit with his bike in the rain sometimes and stands in line to get these figures in person. And I don’t watch him for his thoughts on a figure. I watch, like most collectors to see high quality video of it and make my own decision on weather or not I will get the figure. I don’t need his in the form of a review.

His videos are great. You always find out so much about the figure from his reviews.

As for this Maul, I have the Solo version and a custom version which is very similar to the Clone Wars one....but I like the look of the relaxed face head sculpt here.l It looks a bit thinner and more suited to what he looked like in Clone Wars.

Do I need to make a third Maul though? No, I really don't. I look forward to it anyway.

He's been on coming soon for 4.5 years now - not sure what Kit Fisto has to do with TPM though. It's possible, if unlikely, he shows up for the ROTS anniversary next year.

Wow! It looks much improved overall! I wonder if there's a version that won't include the speeder bike though? I really don't want that.

New heads, robe and outfit look much better now, at least as far as the proto goes. Love that they got rid of the etched lines to make the tattoos and it's all smooth like it's supposed to be. Hopefully the paint apps survive the production process.

These heads are going to be hard to come by, since everyone will want to just upgrade their 1.0

But at the cost for each head -- if you get both -- you might as well get the full set and sell off what you don't want.


Full disclosure: I have the DX Maul with Speeder, so all I need are those heads.

The heads are a definite improvement when you zoom in, but on my old neutral expression sculpts those etched lines are almost undetectable when holding it a foot away from my face. I literally had to use a magnifying glass for them to be as obvious as in HT's comparison shots. They're much more apparent on the angry sculpts. I could see picking up the new sculpts if the prices are right, but I wouldn't get into a bidding war for them.

p.s. - Still no indication if the heads are magnetic?

If they did drop the magnetic neck, then we'll need the body too.

Even if the new head is a plug design, it should sit on the magnetic neck about as stable as with a magnet.
