Wow I did not expect this to come out so soon! Sideshow’s exp window was for Apr-Sept. I think this came out look really great and what I expected from the prototype.

I want to upgrade but have been hit hard the last month with orders and SS shipping everything out at the same time.

Will have to hold off for now, it looks real good though.

Wow, this is early! I ordered this from kit within a few hours of going live, so there's a chance I might actually have this in hand in feb.

He looks exactly like the proto, which is great. The likeness is there, this time I might actually use both sculpts, and the sculpted tattoo lines are gone.
Given that this is my 4th 1:6 scale Maul and I customized the previous iterations, including the HT V1, I am critical of details however.

Some things that stand out to me:
  • In the shots where the saturation isn't cranked to the max or red lights are added, the red of his face looks rather pale and orangey - something the previous HT suffered from as well. So I might have to repaint him yet again - I'll wait for more natural light shots of course.
  • The neck looks a bit short in some shots again, but that might be due to (not) futzing the collar. I extended the neck of the V1, I was hoping that wasn't necessary here.
  • While no surprise since this was on the proto, the eyes are still not right. The yellow irises are too small, the pupil too large. I might finally have to look into custom eyes.

I have the V1, but wanted the 2 new heads and the new "improved" robe from this set. Figured by the time I pay for just those, I might as well get the full set... plus, I need a 2nd outfit/body to display Naboo Duel as well as Tatooine robe.

Love the shape of the robe hood in this pic...

Agreed with everything outlined here.

I also wish the eyes were more accurate.

Fully hooded is such a menacing look.

I’m usually a one figure per design type of guy, so I’ll have fun switching him up from Tatooine fight to Naboo Duel. Lots of options with this one.

Funny that in this comparison, the HT is actually too red compared to the more orange red in the screenshot. The color tone in the blogger photos is all over the place due to their heavy editing, so I'm very curious what this ends up looking like in hand.

I also misremembered - the V1 was not too orange, but mainly too dark and muted.

Here the SS V2 (too pale for my liking), the V1 repainted in the middle, and the V2 original on the right (too dark and muted).

For the eyes, the size of the iris acrually looks pretty accurate (though there were several different contact lenses). It's really mainly the size of the pupil that I'd like to havefix.ed. The tiny pupils give him that ferocious animalistic look.

For those with the 1.0, all you really need to do is buy the heads parted out. Those are biggest differences. Of course I'm buying the full figure being the Maul sucker that I am.
Exactly what I'm doing. I need that neutral sculpt to put on the 1.0. It's screaming Ray Park. The second angry sculpt is still a miss. Maybe they'll nail that with their 3.0 in 5 years.

Also tempted by the improved cloak but I don't think I'll ever display Maul with it unless if I had the speeder. This is all I need:

I failed to specify I guess, but I also prefer the smaller pupil.

Looks like HT based it off promo images where the pupil is larger. In that regard, it’s pretty spot on.

Looks to have turned out fantastic. The upgraded robe is a plus but like others have said, the headsculpts (particularly the neutral) is the real draw here. Hope I get a conversion for the coin exclusive.

Medicom robe still the best for silhouette and thin material. However, it's more sheer and shiny vs satin like the HT. Curious if they did a wired down the back, center of the hood. That's where Medicom excelled!
