Salazar is okay but does not approach, IMO, Barbossa or Davy Jones. The dynamic between the first couple of iconic villains and career-high Depp is so intoxicating it almost makes Orlando Bloom look above-average.

I love Bardem but don’t rate Salazar with his Coen-y or Bond-y efforts. Not an insult, more of a mild disappointment at squandered resources. I like 5 much more than 4 but, puns be damned, the ship has sailed on that franchise I to the M to the O.

None of this is explicitly stated but if we go with what IS stated and the simplest extrapolation -

The piece contained in R2-

Han says that the people who knew Luke best supposed he went looking for the first Jedi temple. Since R2 is Luke's traveling companion/calculator/Swiss Army Knife, it's most reasonable to suppose he (Luke) would make use of R2 while researching his goal. Once achieved, not only does R2 become inaccessible, but the information he has is edited and pertinent info removed...

The piece hidden in BB-8 -

Poe is dispatched to collected information in the ass end of nowhere (with no knowledge of the portion contained in R2). He refers to it as a "map to Luke Skywalker" in a moment of desperation to convince Finn, who repeats that phrase - perhaps leading to some unsupported assumptions by inattentive viewers.

Why the 2nd piece resided with The Exorcist is not explored beyond the scripted implications that he believes in the cause and is acquainted with the Skywalker/Solo families.

I love Bardem but don’t rate Salazar with his Coen-y or Bond-y efforts. Not an insult, more of a mild disappointment at squandered resources. I like 5 much more than 4 but, puns be damned, the ship has sailed in that franchise.

Part 5 definitely struggled creatively in the overall grand scheme of the plot, but as much as the movies are frowned upon I'd much rather have more Pirates or even Jurassic Park than more SW.

I'd personally love it if they did a PotC prequel series based on some of the books (I.E., The Price of Freedom), as opposed to recycling the same formula... Could be something similar to Solo.

I don’t believe he will and not his fault either.

You have to be a SW purist fanatic to tolerate the stumbling and slow burn first 2 acts in RO which suffered from some character neglect.

Us fanatics do because SW is part of our core being we embrace RO with a very tight grip.

If Chakor can’t tolerate the first 2 acts then the exciting 3rd act and OT call backs won’t be enough to win him over.

Hell he just proved my point look at his SW comment above.

I agree about Chakor never finding the love..

For me personally I found the characters in RO with my first viewing to be average.. With all the planet jumping and new characters being introduced I found myself having problems connecting..

BUT my second viewing was a different story.. Now that I knew what the characters were all about I could enjoy them from frame one.. They are some of my fav characters in the SW universe.

Its SW done right.. What Jokes that were in it were done right.. What characters that were in it, I wanted more..

So much better then the PT and ST​

Yeah I agree... I was really let down by Salazar... I was kinda looking forward to Pirates 5 but the reviews kept me from the theater.. I figured it would be a nice home viewing but I found it so boring.. I could not even tell you what the plot was or why Salazar was the villain.. I just did not care.

I really only like the first 2 and I am not even that big a fan of either of them..

My Dirty little secret.. I don't care for Johnny Depp... At all. In anything.. Except for maybe Donnie Brasco.

Wait what I had no idea that’s freaking awesome!

For me personally I found the characters in RO with my first viewing to be average.. With all the planet jumping and new characters being introduced I found myself having problems connecting..


BUT my second viewing was a different story.. Now that I knew what the characters were all about I could enjoy them from frame one.. They are some of my fav characters in the SW universe.

I've seen that film at least five times in its entirety and it held up every.single.time.

The plot is definitely the biggest problem with that film though - it doesn't take me out of the film but there's way too many plot holes that ignore things established in parts 1 and 2.

I'd argue its some of if not the best CGI of all time. At the age of ten when I first saw that movie in a theatre I could have sworn it was makeup and was shocked to learn it was all CGI. He's easily my favorite character of all time.

I'd argue its some of if not the best CGI of all time. At the age of ten when I first saw that movie in a theatre I could have sworn it was makeup and was shocked to learn it was all CGI. He's easily my favorite character of all time.

Off the top of my head.. I cant think of anything to argue with that.. Now I have not watched since it came out on Blu Ray.. But they seem to hold up from what I have seen in clips.
