Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

At least it’s settled why the FO didn’t shoot down the Resistance and that Luke didn’t leave a map for everyone to find him.

I feel better everyday when that’s settled.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

I got out of the Box.. I don't see anyone pointing out that Poe was actually right for Destroying that Big ship in the beginning. He should have slapped everyone and said.. "I was right! You all would be dead if it were not for me"

So when everyone was in shock that the the FO found them Poe should have started dancing around saying "See I knew the FO would do something impossible to find us! You should let me murder our own squadrons more often!" Come on JAWS, lol. ;)

The Force......

No other answers needed.....

Kinda the same for how did a bunch of Teddy Bears beat an Imperial Garrison.....

Savage lol

Ummm See below.

Please Jye... Lets not compare TLJ to the OT. Flaws or not.. TLJ is not even close to the quality of those films.. Well 1 and 2 anyways. Jedi is still better because like I said way back. There are great scenes to watch.. Not small bits but actual entire scenes... Not so with TLJ..

How can one Love RO and TLJ at the same time.. It makes no sense :lol ;)

You really should reconsider liking TLJ because team Khev/jye/Junkion are soo much fun to hang out with on the weekends lol

I really do love that every plan the resistance has goes to **** lol

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Completely unrelated but tangential since JAWS posts here - I just discovered that Dennis Quaid has a band called Dennis Quaid and the Sharks and they are playing near me in June.

I mean, you go to that show no questions asked right?

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Well then listen to the blu-ray commentary or what the characters actually say in the movies. Or read this:

The story group’s thinking went back to the 1977 original movie, when R2-D2 accessed the Empire’s mainframe as the heroes searched for the captured Princess Leia. “We had the idea about R2 plugging into the information base of the Death Star, and that’s how he was able to get the full map and find where the Jedi temples are,” Arndt said.

Abrams says he chose to spell this out indirectly in the movie because he didn’t want the story to get bogged down in “how s–t happened 30 years ago.”

“But the idea was that in that scene where R2 plugged in, he downloaded the archives of the Empire, which *was* referenced by Kylo Ren,” Abrams said. Thirty-eight years later, in both our own and galactic time, that data becomes useful in The Force Awakens when a new droid approaches the dormant R2.

https://ew.com/article/2015/12/20/jj-...force-awakens/

So, once again, they didn't find it necessary to take the time to have a few lines of dialogue here or there to spell out major plot points for the audience to stay engaged, but found the time for a scene to have a resistance soldier touch the ground lick his fingers and comment "salt".. ? That makes much more sense. It was very important we knew it was salt. Rian needed the audience to see how intelligent he was that he dropped hints about Luke's force projection and that he was not actually there so we'd be wowed with his genius. A real forehead slapper. "Didn't see that one coming.."

Every movie and story fails when the viewer or readier has to come up with their own ideas in order to fill in the gaps to make sense of the story. A movie/story should be written as if it's a persons 1st foray into this world and properly put story points into context.. A book could have footnotes or an apendix at the end. A movie can't. So Johnson expects everyone to wait till the bluray comes out so we can listen to his commentary track, or Disney just delays and retcons the novel and tries to fill in all the confusing gaps and head scratching left by Johnson..

Bad Bad Bad Bad Bad movie...... Not just a Bad SW movie.... A BAD MOVIE!! :lol

I leave for awhile and have so much to catch up on.... :lol

:dunno How is that even remotely settled? Unless you just simply come to terms that everyone will be forever wrong and you are right? Like I said earlier, TLJ has more plot flaws than all the OT combined. So even saying they are flawed is still not enough of a defense for TLJ

No.. But when they kept throwing it in his face that he was a hot shot.. He should have spoke up for himself... I can accept that he would not with Leia. He respected her.. But Holdo?? While she kept him out of everything and threw his demotion in his face.. If not Poe then someone should have stood up for the savior of the resistance.

No instead I have to watch the slowest chase in movie history with Holdo making nothing but bad decisions.. And if I am not with them I am forced to watch a sub plot with Rose.

You really should reconsider liking TLJ because team Khev/jye/Junkion are soo much fun to hang out with on the weekends lol

:lol

I just cant bring myself to be a member of that club..

Btw... Yes.. AQP was filmed upstate NY in areas I have been in before but nothing too close to where I live.

I endorse everything in this post except the word “everyone.”

There are very few people who still think Poe was chasing down leads in the middle of nowhere and R2 was deactivated for years because Luke wanted everyone to fnd him.

If I remember right, 3PO says R2 put himself in a low power mode after Luke's disappearance and NO ONE has been able to reactivate him. If R2 wasn't meant to help, why did he reactivate and provide the missing piece? Again another plot hole between 2 movies with 2 directors/writers that didn't work together. Did JJ truly mean Luke didn't want to be found at all, or rather to not be bothered with till he was needed and ready to be found? There are so many things started in TFA that were simply forgotten or abandoned in TLJ creating a big mess.

The meta stuff - who intended what - is irrelevant to the on-screen narrative. R2 is historically rebellious and always follows his instincts, from ANH on.

R2 decided to reveal his secret because he thought it necessary. And he was right, as usual.

He does it for reasons unknown in TFA but by the time he is arguing with and guilt-tripping Luke in TLJ it’s very clear that he is defying Luke once again for the greater good.

You forget that that is my #1 criticism against the ST. I wish the TFA opening scroll was more clear on how the FO came to be and that was just even a little more info on why the various movers and shakers (Snoke, Leia having a Resistance separate from the Republic, etc.) were where they were.

If I remember right, 3PO says R2 put himself in a low power mode after Luke's disappearance and NO ONE has been able to reactivate him. If R2 wasn't meant to help, why did he reactivate and provide the missing piece?

Because he wanted to. That's literally the reason. BB-8 rolled up to him and told him he had a portion of the map and asked if R2 knew where the rest was. R2 was in such a low power state that it took a few hours for him to process the data that BB-8 gave him. When it finally sank in that he might actually get to see Luke again he "woke up." Now you can complain that it wasn't made easier to understand but the claim that Luke ever intended for R2 to help anyone find him is simply false.
