Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Off the top of my head.. I cant think of anything to argue with that.. Now I have not watched since it came out on Blu Ray.. But they seem to hold up from what I have seen in clips.

The only thing I would put up there with Davy Jones is the T-rex from JP1, which was amazing for the time that film came out.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

*adds crows to ignore list*

I've seen that film at least five times in its entirety and it held up every.single.time.

The plot is definitely the biggest problem with that film though - it doesn't take me out of the film but there's way too many plot holes that ignore things established in parts 1 and 2.

I'd argue its some of if not the best CGI of all time. At the age of ten when I first saw that movie in a theatre I could have sworn it was makeup and was shocked to learn it was all CGI. He's easily my favorite character of all time.

For me:

ANH/ESB
ROTS/ROTJ
TLJ
TFA
RO
AOTC
Flaming bag of dog ****

what plot holes and what ignored things?

While I can’t quote chapter and verse, I clearly remember a RT-quoted review citing the makeup job onDavey Jones.

It doesn’t get Gollum level recognition but perhaps that’s the greater compliment. As Robert Downey Holmes said, “It’s so overt, it’s covert.”

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

what plot holes and what ignored things?

1. Jack obtaining his compass from the former Wicked Wench captain instead of Tia Dalma
2. Will Turner being cursed despite swearing to do his duties as captain of the Flying Dutchman
3. Barbossa having a daughter (yeah like that would ever happen - it was a twist for the sole sake of melodrama)
4. What did Angelica ever do with that Jack voodoo doll?
5. If all curses were held in the Trident of Poisden then how do you explain the curse over Barbossa's crew in CotBP?

None of it takes me out of the film but the writing was lazy in many regards.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Sorry JAWS I simply can’t accept forgiveness for the PT with simultaneous hatred for the ST.

That just screams blind forgiveness because it’s Lucas.

I was ready to say pro Lucas anti Kennedy but you like RO :lol

The former are not even movies they’re cartoons.

C’mon that just doesn’t compute.

wait i dont understand this one

The curse over Barbossa and his crew was connected to the Aztec gold. In part 5 however, it's established that all curses at sea are held within the Trident - therefore ignoring the previous curses in the series which were connected to things other than the Trident. It's easy enough to ignore it and just accept that the curses over Barbossa's crew and Davy Jones' crew were connected to other things in their respective movies, but it annoys my OCD that they threw in the whole Trident device in part 5 and broke continuity with the first two.

could it be that the curses were over items like the gold but the trident was the thing that hold them in place? or the thing that gave those items magic?
Were all the curses connected to the sea? to those items touching the sea?

The way it sounded like in the movie is that the trident was the magic that held the curses and what have them power.

:lol :lol @ 10/11

For me both ROTJ/RO have great 3rd acts but both also suffer from weak first 2 acts.

I have a hard time now deciding which has the weaker first 2 acts.

What does more damage, Ewoks or Saw?

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

You guys need help seriously.

Why are you guys arguing over the same stuff that got the last jedi closed?

Like, jesus christ! The last jedi is literally becoming a mind disease.

Arguing about the last jedi is gonna become a personality disorder :lol :lol

But seriously, i cant believe it is going back to the same crap.

Since I liked Saw G. I'll go with Ewoks, but you know what, Sy Snootles was almost as bad

well see it my way,
Snikt is gone, spazz is gone, Im not contributing to it, who are the people that destroyed that thread by arguing over that movie non stop and are destroying this thread now?
When I said that I was thinking that the people responsible for breaking that thread are not here. I was talking about those that abandoned the subject and those that are gone from the site.

only the ones that feel like they need to defend this movie like if they were defending their own wife are the ones ruining this thread. Like I said I already tapped out about talking about the movie because this is just boring and pathetic now.

Personally, I'd put the blame elsewhere.
