No.. But when they kept throwing it in his face that he was a hot shot.. He should have spoke up for himself... I can accept that he would not with Leia. He respected her.. But Holdo?? While she kept him out of everything and threw his demotion in his face.. If not Poe then someone should have stood up for the savior of the resistance.

She insulted him by calling him "Captain." He responded by calling her "coward" and "traitor." I'm pretty sure that qualifies as standing up for himself. ;)

'Twas just a friendly jab. :wink1:

You get what you give!

:duff

Psst...I adore the first two Pirates movies, respectfully acknowledge the third, tolerate the fourth, and appreciate the effort of the fifth.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Sounds like more fun then watching TLJ again :)

Forget TLJ how come in AQP the US military didn’t just put speakers in a field and make noise so that the monsters would come and then shot them dead like fish in a barrel or cage them for study.

:lol

Well I'd say most of the effort of the fifth paid off since I enjoyed that film more than any of last year's other movies, but I'm sure I'll get crucified for that. :lol

Just ask Wor-Gar and Khev, they loved it too. :lol

They wanted to wait until the creatures were almost starved and thus too weak to even think about running from the sound.. Then they would kill them... At least that was what Hux wanted to do.

The whole reason he was being dissed was because of the Destruction of the Dreadnaught.. Someone should have pointed it out that he saved the resistance.. Poe... a friend.. The writers!!! :lol

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Because he wanted to. That's literally the reason. BB-8 rolled up to him and told him he had a portion of the map and asked if R2 knew where the rest was. R2 was in such a low power state that it took a few hours for him to process the data that BB-8 gave him. When it finally sank in that he might actually get to see Luke again he "woke up." Now you can complain that it wasn't made easier to understand but the claim that Luke ever intended for R2 to help anyone find him is simply false.

Ok first I didn't know you could speak droid ;)

Seriously though.. I don't recall.. Why did R2 have any piece of the map.. Why was there another piece of the map in Father Marrin's possession.. I don't recall...

I loved Pirates 5... better than unsatisfying and not very fun 3.... and way better than the complete mess that was 4.

The guillotine gag alone tops any gag in 3-4.

And best villain since Davy Jones himself. I'd rank Salazar Number 3 after Davy and Barbossa.

I'd actually say Salazar is one of the best villains to grace the big screen in a long time.

See that JAWS? The Chakor/Wor-Gar/Khev Pirates 5 Love Club is much more fun than any TLJ love or hate club. :lecture

None of this is explicitly stated but if we go with what IS stated and the simplest extrapolation -

The piece contained in R2-

Han says that the people who knew Luke best supposed he went looking for the first Jedi temple. Since R2 is Luke's traveling companion/calculator/Swiss Army Knife, it's most reasonable to suppose he (Luke) would make use of R2 while researching his goal. Once achieved, not only does R2 become inaccessible, but the information he has is edited and pertinent info removed...

The piece hidden in BB-8 -

Poe is dispatched to collected information in the ass end of nowhere (with no knowledge of the portion contained in R2). He refers to it as a "map to Luke Skywalker" in a moment of desperation to convince Finn, who repeats that phrase - perhaps leading to some unsupported assumptions by inattentive viewers.

Why the 2nd piece resided with The Exorcist is not explored beyond the scripted implications that he believes in the cause and is acquainted with the Skywalker/Solo families.

Salazar is okay but does not approach, IMO, Barbossa or Davy Jones. The dynamic between the first couple of iconic villains and career-high Depp is so intoxicating it almost makes Orlando Bloom look above-average.

You forgot to mention that I'm bringing coffee and doughnuts. :)

and the paddle of course

My only beef with Salazar is that his demise was extremely predictable and cliched. Other than that I loved the performance from Bardem and the theme that followed him throughout the movie. I'd put him above all of last year's Marvel villains. But definitely not above Barbossa or Jones.

I'm also part of the very select RO Fan Club... that's like me and Khev.

What is jye, chopped liver? :lol

You know I think I'll give that movie another chance sometime down the road. I just found it really boring ala CW and BvS the first time around. It could be one of those movies that gets better with repeat viewings like Thor 3 - and not the kind that get worse like Ant-Meh.
