My top 15 BIGGEST cinema disappointments in order of severity and depression…

1. TPM
2. ROTS
3. AOTC
4. ROTJ
5. TDKR
6. Alien 3
7. Conan the Destroyer
8. Die Hard 2
9. Robocop 2
10. Superman 3
11. Indy 3
12. Predator 2
13. Batman Returns
14. Blade 3
15. TFA
Lol what a great list… I agree with so much of it. Here is what I remember from my theater going experience.

For the record I don’t dislike all of these films but left the theater really disappointed at the time.

Godzilla 1998 is my most disappointing cinema experience by a mile. I waited my whole life for a big budget Godzilla film.

Conan the Destroyer. There was a time in my life the Conan the Barbarian was my fav film and not JAWS. I was deep into the comics, books and the soundtrack. Could not wait for this film… what a bummer.

Terminator 2. The hype for this movie was too big. My expectations too high. My love for the first film too strong. I thought I was going to love this film more than any Sci fi action film… Nope.

Batman 1989. Much like T2 I was supper hyped for this film. Thought it would be the greatest thing ever. Jack was my fav actor at the time. Joker was supposed to be perfect for him… That trailer blew me away…. But Tim Burton strikes again

The Force Awakens. Apparently at the time I watched a different film than everyone else.

The Phantom Menace - What did I just watch ????

Blade 3. I am such a fan of the first two but this film was so bad it ruined them both for a little while.

Alien 3. I like it now but what a bummer back in the day.

Die Hard 3. Just was not a Die hard film. Too many riddles not enough fighting terrorist.

Friday the 13th part 8. What a drag. Did not deliver on its promise at all. I had too much faith in Kane Hodder returning to the role I guess.

Honorable mention

Godzilla 2014. I like it ok but was disappointed and let down. I left scratching my head asking why it was so hard for American to get a Godzilla movie right .

I was 7 or 8 when Godzilla 1998 came out. Remember being confused as to why he was so skinny and kept running from the weapons. Also the trailers they never showed him and they only showed his tail and feet or mouth. He definitely looked like a big trex

T2 hnnnng :horror

You just wait until a-dev sees that mister! :panic:

Youssa step in big poopoo now!

I don’t mind rubbing a-dev’s rhubarb when it comes to TLC but I would never dare do that with T2!

Even Clown will be like WTF lol

JAWS have you no shame lol

Wow so you liked CTB over JAWS at one point in your life very interesting.

JAWS' feelings on T2 are well known. So I will instead comment on Die Hard 3 - that IMO was the last time Die Hard was good. I hated 4 and only saw 5 on TV a year or two ago due to its (deserved) reputation.

So actually Die Hard 4 would make my list of biggest theatrical viewing disappointments.

Independence Day Resurgence would be another since I rather like the first one even to this day.

I drive on that highway every week and every time I pass the spot where they filmed I want to spin my car especially if its raining lol

For Halloween I was thinking of going to Harlem naked but wearing a sandwich sign and screaming racist things but my wife convinced me to just go as a Squid Game assassin instead lol

LOL... Hey it was just a massive disappointment at the time. I blame the Gun's and Roses video that showed way to much of the film and basically gave away all the really cool looking CGI moments

TLC is up there for me in disappointments also.. I just was not all that depressed afterwards.. Not like I was after seeing that abomination T2 :lol ;)

Yikes.. ID4... There is another disappointment for me. The trailers looked so cool but the film was schlock.

I think DH3 is meh at best. I actually think DH4 is the 2nd best in the series. I never understand the hate it gets. Other then Bruce Willis hanging on the wing of a Jet the action in the film was solid and most of it practical.

DH5 was a let down but the reviews for it had me prepared.

Not knowing T2's twist of Arnold being the good guy made opening night with a packed house one of the single greatest cinematic experiences of my life. I still remember the deafening cheer of the audience when he climbed onto the hood of the tanker truck and unloaded his entire magazine into the T-1000 at point blank range like it was yesterday.

Watched it six more times on the big screen that summer. It was the perfect movie for a 17 year old diehard James Cameron fan. Sure I've soured on how it softened the tone of the original since but it was the literal opposite of a disappointment opening night.

ID1 was the Batman 89 of 1996!
LOL .. It really was. I was so pumped from all the trailers and media... Only to come crashing down with bitter disappointment

I would have loved to have gone into T2 with no knowledge of the film.

I still think I would have guessed Arnold would be the good guy just because he had been playing the hero ever since he finished T1.

Still to know nothing going into that film would have greatly improved my enjoyment.

I can't imagine waiting an entire year for Hulk to get back at Thanos only for him to do what he did in EG, lol.
Yep. Did not help that I found the rest of the film to only be average. I mean Infinity War had no hulk (other then a beat down) but the rest of the movie was so amazing. Had Endgame been able to achieve half of what IW gave us then I would have been happy... But admittedly still disappointed.

Okay since there's so little new stuff to get excited about right now I fell back on an old standby: Rebuying old stuff, lol. :rock

I tracked down the non-DNR 4K versions of SW 4K77 and ROTJ 4K83 and wow I wish I had gotten those in the first place. Especially ROTJ, the DNR version gave the actors an almost Predator blu-ray level of waxiness but no more! I finally feel like I have the "perfect" version of ROTJ to watch at home. Not only do all the textures look properly authentic but that light grain (which really isn't distracting at all, I think I was expecting ESB Grindhouse levels of grain but that just isn't the case, not even close) actually gives the entire movie a more "film-like" appearance, like you're actually watching it projected in a movie theater. Like I said, it's pretty much perfection IMO and I may have to never purchase that movie ever again.

The DNR in SW 4K77 never seemed as heavy handed as ROTJ for me but again just for the authenticity of the film experience I now prefer the non-DNR version of that movie as well. And now owning both versions I'm starting to think that the DNR process might have even tweaked the colors a bit because even the color correction seemed better with no DNR.

The green tint in some scenes of SW was most pronounced in the Falcon cockpit immediately after they leave Mos Eisley correct? Because that scene no longer had such a tint to my eye. If I was misremembering where the tint was most offensive please let me know and I'll do another comparison.

But regardless I absolutely 100% recommend the non-DNR versions of 4K77 and 4K83. The absolute best and most authentic restorations of the OT, and I can't freaking wait to see how ESB 4K80 turns out.

Well this would be the perfect thread to talk about the YouTube dislike button. Today YouTube has announced that they are eliminating the dislike button. What a bunch of horse****. Big tech continues to protect the current administration and corporations like Disney. The guy below has a pretty good take on the issue.
