Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Yeah a lot of his posts read like Mad Libs.

The two mainstream movies that are the most unwatchable are Pet Sematary and the CGI in TPM's Pod Race.

;)

But they are. :dunno

Pet Semetery is probably the only film that ever made me wish I was watching SW Episodes I and II instead. The whole thing is just miserable with a bunch of unnecessary subplots, wooden acting from most of the cast, zero charm, and it's just plain unsettling - and not in a good way like The Thing or The Fly - just plain unsettling. I like the book but that movie is awful. Not even Herman Munster could save that dumpster fire.

And I dare you to watch TPM pod race and tell me that's not awful CGI. Syfy channel movies have better effects.

I can’t imagine what it must be like to not have been born between 1967-1975 leading up to the best period in american cinema history.

I mean I feel so bad that i’m thinking of starting a charity for Chakor’s loss.

Based on how nuts a lot of folks around here are over SW, I'm glad I was born after that hoopla. :lol

:lol

In all fairness the CGI for Jabba in TPM is the worst CGI ever put to mainstream cinema, even worse than the pod race... I've never seen anything worse, not even the Scorpion King in Mummy Returns is that bad. That Jabba is just painful to look at, and it didn't help that Jabba already looked like a giant green space booger at the core of his design.

Isn’t this your favorite movie?

Yes and that's miles better than anything in TPM, partly because it's hidden in the dark and not proudly shoved in your face 70% of the time.

You’re literally describing a Syfy show :lol

And do you mean the ANH Jabba? Is that a typo?

Edit: nvm Junkion already on it :lol

I haven't revisited Pirates 1 in a few years but I don't remember being distracted by the CGI. Nor the podrace stuff, aside from maybe a few of the pilots who were very cg-muppety.

But I don't get too critical unless it's really egregious. Like JL moostache levels.

Oh... You know, it's been a good 15 years since I saw TPM (it traumatized me that much), so maybe I'm mis-remembering something. All I can is that if PM Jabba was a puppet, it was the lousiest puppet ever made. But I know Jabba was in it.

Yeah ANH Jabba was definitely the worst, especially the first version. Outside of that the scorpion king was definitely the worst CG I’ve seen.

Malebolgia in the Spawn movie for me. I remember reading they took the CG model from American Werewolf in Paris and just chop-shopped it for time/budget reasons. It's so bad it's mesmerizing.

That's definitely bad, but I guess part of it is just my hatred for PM clouding my judgement. Even with awful CGI the OT will always be more watchable. :lol
