Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

The worst part of the scene for me isn't even the horrifying PC Jabba. It's the fact that they just repeat the Greedo dialogue almost verbatim. It's like watching the deleted scenes in the theater.

George wanted to have his cake and then have his cake again.

Exactly. It plays weird as ****. And how can Han be fearful of Jabba's wrath in ESB and yet treat him with as blatant disrespect as you can possibly get in ANH?

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Yeah ANH Jabba was definitely the worst, especially the first version. Outside of that the scorpion king was definitely the worst CG I’ve seen.

Proof:

It was never meant to be.

It's one of those times where you just have to recognize that what starts out as creative endeavor eventually devolves into business. i believe that George wanted to touch up the OT out of whimsy but once they crunched the numbers it became a Big Business matter. Supposedly the time spent on basic restoration of ANH (just cleaning it up) was equal to the entire amount of time spent on ESB and ROTJ SEs because they had decided on a release scheme. That's why you still see thick ass borders around the Rancor's legs in the first ROTJ SE. I remember seeing it in the theater and thinking WTF kind of Special Edition is this? :lol

Lucas didnt put those scenes in for some misguided notion of being a completist...

He did it for the same reason he made the entire PT. To showcase the future of effects and further his business interests in Industrial Light and Magic and Skywalker sound.

And I dare you to watch TPM pod race and tell me that's not awful CGI. Syfy channel movies have better effects.

Ok.. That is just crazy talk.. It may not have aged as well but it was top tier for its time and still not bad.

:lol

In all fairness the CGI for Jabba in TPM is the worst CGI ever put to mainstream cinema, even worse than the pod race... I've never seen anything worse, not even the Scorpion King in Mummy Returns is that bad. That Jabba is just painful to look at, and it didn't help that Jabba already looked like a giant green space booger at the core of his design.

Yeah that first version of Jabba in ANH.. I remember laughing when I saw it in theaters.. Bad bad stuff.

Malebolgia in the Spawn movie for me. I remember reading they took the CG model from American Werewolf in Paris and just chop-shopped it for time/budget reasons. It's so bad it's mesmerizing.

Oh yeah.. Too stinkers for sure. Malebolgia was Sci Fi channel quality for sure.

You guys are amatures..
What about “Lawnmower man”

:lol

Saw that in theaters also.. Never saw it again :lol
