The amount of overposting is gettin' out of hands...

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

So just because TLJ tossed aside all of the fan theories that’s now proof that they’re making it up as they go along?

So let me get this straight Disney is paying God knows how many employees JUST SO Rian can come in last second and make up his own story on his own!

Yep and once a director is hired they are all-powerful. There is absolutely nothing Kathleen Kennedy can do other than watch things play out and hope for the best.

I do believe the rumors - that JJ sketched out a 3 movie progression, but they also wanted to allow for directorial input on each movie.
I think Johnson pushed it as far as he could, but we know that JJ read his script and even agreed to swap out BB8 for R2 so that the Luke / R2 moment could happen.
I don’t think anything in TLJ ruins the promises of TFA. At this level of filmmaking, I think it’s more of a playful challenge. JJ will do fine. He would never have signed on again if his goal was unattainable.

IMO, of course. :peace

Cuz people get maaaaaaaad. :lol

Yeah people were really going off for a while that "ZOMG Johnson wrote TLJ without reading the script to TFA!!1!!1 They have no koneck shuns!" As if TLJ wasn't constantly referencing and continuing events that happened in TFA (like Kylo's duel with Rey, Rey calling him a monster, exact recreations of Luke putting his hand on R2 while the previous temple burned, etc.)

I see it as more like ALIENS being a direct continuation of ALIEN but with Cameron deftly side-stepping Scott's original intended life-cycle for the xenomorphs so that he could focus on what he was most passionate about. Is it the same sequel that the original director would have given us? No. But it is valid and respectable for what the new director brought to the table in its own right.

Yup.
It’s so vague that it’s practically begging for a surprise reveal. “From a certain point of view.”

The “saga” is the Skywalker saga. I’ll eat my hat if it ends on a bummer Kylo defeat. There are surprises yet to come IMO.

Rey’s current info - that she is from “ nothing” is valuable, even if wrong.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

That's how you make it in the big leagues Johnson, you see an opening for a movie reference you GO for it

I remember when I was a young fan of this Saga. I used to call the PT funny names. Iron Butt. Boner. Once I even called them...non-canon. But there was always respect. I always knew where the line was drawn, and you just stepped over it, buddy-boy. You've insulted me and you've insulted this forum with that bastard film reference.

I had guaranteed rep with teet sucking Luke. Apologist theories, memes for 25 years, who cares if Hamill himself thought it worked or not? :panic: :cuss

Team Khev

I chose wisely. :yess:

I feel like we’re the cool kids in on Lucasfilm’s trickery :lol

Oh come on. Seriously, why do you feel the need to knock people who don't like the movie as illiterate teenagers.
I haven't seen anyone in this thread knock the film using that language (except for Jye).

And secondly.. Alien - Aliens? Really?
JJ intended a big backstory for Rey, He intended to have story continuity and a background for Snoke, The Knights of Ren and Luke. It was part one of a story reboot.. to be continued..
If Rian did read the script for TFA then he did a very good job of completely undoing the first part of a three part story arc. That's incredibly stupid. And it will show in IX.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Colin Trevorrow supposedly knew Rey's fate at the end of Episode IX prior to TLJ's release so they must have had some idea of where things were going.

Whether or not Abrams will stick to whatever that was is anyone's guess obviously.

Love the good SW (OT/RO) hate the bad (PT/CW/Rebels) and pretend that the ST is good. Not that hard a concept really. ;)

Fixed.

Hmmm Also Clone wars bad?? The Movie was.. But there are episodes that are infinitely more interesting then the ST. Ahsoka Tano is a far more interesting character then any of the new characters in the ST also.

Perhaps I am more forgiving there as it is a cartoon.

Have not watched Rebels yet.
