Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

SNIKT while I agree that BvS is much better than the 22% RT implies I would absolutely say that you're barking up the wrong tree with regard to rushmore. I know for a fact that he seeks out and watches totally under the radar little art house movies largely ignored by the mainstream public. He's never once come across as someone who blindly follows the herd.

Sometimes people really do just dislike the movies that you like and vice versa.

I know for a fact that if RO had received a 17% on RT as you were waiting in line to see it opening night, you would have lost all faith in mass consensus and online movie score aggregates.

Thank you Khev! :duff

:duff Too bad you weren't able to catch "A Ghost Story" in theaters.

I already pay little mind to RT scores so I'm not sure what point you're trying to make.

Just that mass consensus is as ridiculous these days as RT scores.

I ended up missing Ghost Story :gah:

Home viewing it will have to be.

I suppose but there are caveats of course. There's a handful of people here and even some critics who for the most part share my tastes so if they all say that a movie is awesome or going to suck then that's usually a good indicator of how I'll feel as well. Do I automatically agree with such a consensus? Of course not, I'm perfectly content being in the minority for any given film and have proven that time and again. ;)

Speaking of '81, I recently rewatched Ordinary People. ****ing brilliant every time and a reminder that the A.M.P.A.S. sometimes really does it get it right (well, now with the affirmative action garbage that might be difficult to do).

As did literally everyone except me and EVILFACE, lol. Which sucks because I really wanted to talk about it! :gah: :lol

It was playing down the street from me.

I just learned last week that the movie is artistically formatted to a pseudo 4:3 aspect ratio?!

My wife would've complained had we went lol

yeah, it was gone within a week, unfortunately I don't have much wiggle room in my schedule. I will definitely see it though, no question there, might be through Redbox, which, as you know, instantly disqualifies the integrity of my opinion.

There are plenty of well received films that I don't like too.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

For the tastes record

TFA 7/10
BVsS 5/10
SS 5/10
MOS 6/10
Civil War 7/10
AOU 6/10
RO 8/10

Dunno what this says about my tastes or influence of media. I do look at RT to see if a movie I am on the fence about is worth shelling out 50 bucks to see in theaters.

It comes to mind as a film I might see in theaters....based off the RT score and the opinions of my fine fellow SSF"s

War for Planet of the Apes was a 8/10 and went to see that opening night without any idea what the interwebs opinions were.

Next film that gets that privilege is TLJ

JL will wait to see what the critics, RT and SSF has to say.

Yep with rounded corners no less! But that's not the only thing that's unconventional in the film so you might be in for quite the earful from her when it's done, lol.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

My wife only likes movies in 1:85 format I have to hear it every day lol

lol@ pixle trolling Wor.

:lol

I see that SNIKT didn't like Wonder Woman which is no doubt on account of him being a lemming who saw it in traditional IMAX instead of putting on a dress and watching it at the all women screening the way it was properly meant to be seen.
