Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

The fact that so many people question this scene and it has to be *explained* to a general audience means the scene didn’t work.

An internally consistent scene that follows the physics/logic off all previous films isn't at fault for going over the heads of select individuals in the audience.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

I’m saying why wasn’t the crew sucked out of the ship once the bomb doors opened if the gravity from the bombers was pushing the bombs down?

Because that isn't how it works in SW. SW ships all seem to have those "magnetic fields" that prevent people from being sucked out into space despite there being open doorways/hangars/what have you. No one gets sucked out of the Death Star or Star Destroyer hangars, Han and Leia don't get sucked out of the Falcon when he opens the ramp in the asteroid field and so on. The only times we see people get sucked out into space is when a portion of a ship gets damaged that didn't have such an opening/field like Grievous' ship in ROTS or the bridge of Leia's cruiser in TLJ.

Gravity is the inertia that propels the bombs like the engines in the falcon shooting it away from the death star in the open hangar bay while not sucking the air out and sending everyone into space because of the shield that separates it.

Yes, exactly. As always it's best to just not think too hard about these things otherwise I dare to you explain the physics of the Falcon's gunner stations which seem to have their own artificial gravity that is perpendicular to the gravity from the rest of the ship, lol. ;)

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

One part in TLJ that *does* make me chuckle for being an outright goof is this:

How the heck does Leia get back inside her ship, lol. She doesn't float her way to a proper airlock she just goes right to what used to be an interior door and proceeds to open it...despite Finn and Poe being directly on the other side in an assumedly non-magnetically shielded hallway. Johnson wisely cut away from the tragic and horrifying results that such an entry would have caused, lol.

Star Wars logic. It’s so deep it’s unfathomable.

Star Wars logic. It’s so deep it’s unfathomable.

I remember back in the early 90's when discussion groups were still in their infancy and people were going all "Star Trek" on OT physics even then.

"Lasers cannons shouldn't have recoil! The Falcon guns, AT-AT guns, and DS turrets are so stupid!"

"Lasers could never have a finite beam that just stops after 2-3 feet, lightsabers are stupid!"

Etc.

You either accept this stuff because it looks cool or you don't. As long as they're more or less consistent with their own "rules" then I'm good.

My biggest thing are the X-wings. How can anything with engines that shoot out in one direction allow you to do all of those crazy maneuvers?

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

My BIGGEST Star Wars question of all time, is in ESB. Did Han & company actually sit and eat with Darth Vader on Cloud City? That must have been one uncomfortable meal.

Man I just finished reading that Iger had NASA go back to their archives to find the positioning of the stars and planets from over Manhattan on the minute he was born and then had it digitally recreated for the ceiling in his 15/70 Imax home theater. :google

Real time celestial images can also be displayed on that ceiling.

The idle rich.

Much worse than the idle Freak.

I believe there are only a handful in Cali/NY that have it so yes there are others.

I believe in Dubai a few in the royal family also have them.

I have never seen or worked on a site with one that’s got to be insane.

I wonder if he drools when watching movies on that screen?
