Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

I see....

It’s the conspiracy thing ....Disney exerting pressure in Hamill not to scuttle the financial success of TLJ with his personal opinion?

Good for them....I would sue the crap out of Hamill also if he talked crap about a film they had out so much money into.

Disney has every right to be sure it’s actors are positively promoting the film they hired said actors for .....

Disney is totally correct for controlling every single thing they can to keep their products in good light.

Well done Disney Corp!

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

The point is that after Hamill retracted his comments, the supporters of TLJ all waved their hands in the air that Hamill did like it & the "haters" were dumb posting all the videos and interviews about how "even Hamill didn't like the movie". I guess we forget about the supporters arguments back in December trying to make the "haters" look like trolls. And then those laughing at conspiracy theories about how the "haters" felt Disney forced Hamill to recant his opinion. And sorry I'll take Mark Hamill & George Lucas' opinion holding weight, the creator & most important character, on Star Wars any and every day over Johnson & Kennedy's opinion.

The reason it was funny when Hamill redacted his statements is because it left all the haters who couldn't think for themselves high and dry. *I* never said "aha TLJ is great and Hamill's new comments are proof!" since that would be silly and as I've said many times I think that Hamill will continue to flip flop on this movie for the rest of his life depending on who he's speaking to at any given moment.

Harrison Ford NEVER cared about SW... Ever. So, your comparison doesn't mean much.

Well there's an arbitrary statement if I ever saw one. So actors speaking negatively about a movie only "counts" if they once liked it and then changed their mind? Either an actor's opinion matters or it doesn't.

In this one she will actually start shooting Lightsaber bolts out of her eyes!

sue him?
SUE HIM?

bro... disney has enough power to END him.... i remember when he was first hating on TLJ that a lot of people freaked out for his safety... a lot of people were like "hamill, dude, we like you please stop talking for your safety"

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

At the start of TLJ- Poe disobeys Leia’s order to back down after his initial run against the dreadnought.
Leia is standing at the command center with her generals/co-ordinators etc.
Poe hits his com switch off and ignores her demand to return.

So how does he call in the bombing fleet?
The resistance fleet is under direct command of the command unit?
So how can Poe call them into battle without her permission?
He could go rogue for sure on his own - but it makes zero sense that the bombing fleet could be called in against the command center and the leader of the resistance.

My 8 year old asked me this by the way.
:lol

I'm sure Leia could have sent a broadcast to all the bombers to pull back but she:

1. Didn't want to publicly undermine Poe's authority in front of the entire fleet

and

2. Was curious enough to see if his plan would work so she decided to pick her battles and see how it was going to play out. She had already advised Poe that "I'm with the droid on this one" in thinking him attacking the Dreadnaught was a bad idea but obviously she had given his recklessness a long leash due to his past successes and the fact that it had never bit them in the ass...until they lost every single bomber.

I think she recognized that she shared some responsibility in the fate of the bombers which is why she only demoted an insubordinate officer who indirectly caused the deaths of many pilots by one rank instead of dishonorably discharging him entirely, throwing him in the brig, etc.

I seriously seriously dont even think Rian Jhonson put this much thought into it. the your mom joke proves he didnt even think this out. he just thought the scene would "Look Cool and awesome, explosions pew pew pew"

the fact that the bombs drop without gravity shows you how little he thought of all this stuff. I think khev is giving him too much credit

The "bombs dropped with gravity" complaint was debunked some time ago. They *did* have gravity which is why the bombadiers could walk around inside instead of floating around. All SW ships have artificial gravity. That gravity pulled the bombs "downward" and then once they were out in space just continued on in the same direction giving the illusion that they were "falling."

again

I seriously hardly doubt Rian even thought about this. this whole time is been about you guys that loved the movie coming up for explanations to things that were probably never thought of.
I dont even fault you for it. Movie fans do that all the time, coming up with theories for things. I just seriously doubt he even realized the issues he caused.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Doubt Rian all you want, all that matters is whether the movie itself was internally consistent or not and it was (at least with regard to the scenes we're currently discussing.)

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

yes, yes i will doubt rian. i will doubt him to the end.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Wait a minute, so the gravity inside the bombers carried the bombs to the ships while not having all of the gravity sucked out of the bombers?

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

:lol

Gravity isn't oxygen.

More like the bombs were in motion from artificial gravity inside ships, and according to physics, a mass that has motion in space will continue at that speed and direction until opposing force is exerted.

But still, arguing physics in Star Wars is pointless, if you have a problem with that, then you have problems with every space scene in every Star Wars movie.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

The bombs were magnetised or something which is why they "fell" towards the dreadnaught - at least that's what I am told the explanation is in the visual dictionary.

I'm guessing that the Visual Dictionary was written by some prequel fan. ;) There isn't any need to invent an explanation like magnetization (otherwise wouldn't the bombs just latch onto the metal interior of the bomber itself, lol.) Artificial gravity is a constant of every SW ship since Princess Leia's Blockade Runner. That's all the explanation that is needed.

The fact that so many people question this scene and it has to be *explained* to a general audience means the scene didn’t work.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Correct.

I have no idea what you're even asking here.
I’m saying why wasn’t the crew sucked out of the ship once the bomb doors opened if the gravity from the bombers was pushing the bombs down?
