Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Only way to do that would be retconning TLJ and the flashback.

If they can do mary poppins Leia and force projection Luke, they can do whatever they want. If they wanted him alive, then they could do it. In fact, didn't one of the earlier drafts of the ROTJ script have Yoda and Obi-Wan coming alive during the final battle to give a beat down on the emperor?

Another possibility is that Luke will appear as a force ghost throughout the movie to Kylo Ren instead of Rey. Mess with his mind and try to turn him back. It would actually make sense that ghost luke would be more invested in his nephew than a random girl that he knew for a few days.

Disney should just pull a Hot Toys move and call episode IX “episode VIII version 2.0” :lol

I hope not.

Retconning EP9 to fix the problems/mistakes from TLJ is just proof that Disney knows Johnson & Kennedy F'ed Up... And JJ is giving the finger to Johnson, just as Johnson gave it to JJ. Kennedy must want a **** fight for her love from her 2 leading men to prove who is more worthy... :lol

I don't want to see Luke alive and running around. That's just as stupid as having killed him in the 1st place. All they had to do was change the ending of TLJ and not have him fade away and just cut away with him still sitting there. They chose to kill him, let him stay dead. Hone up to your mistakes. I don't think "Surprise! Luke is alive!" will bring back those that lost faith due to TLJ.

Dumb if JJ does.... :nono

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

So we will see KOR after all

I think it's kind of a given now. TFA/TLJ both have a bit of setup for them. The vision in TFA and a couple of mentions (Master of the Knights of Ren, etc), in TLJ there's the mention of leaving with a handful of Luke's students, and then there's the whole Kylo taking over the First Order thing. I think that it makes it pretty easy for them to go, okay well now he has a reason to have the KoR around as his personal guards, etc. RJ also said he didn't want to use the KoR as the guards in the Throne Room scene because that would be wasting them, and wouldn't make sense for Kylo at the moment.

JJ also said after TFA came out that if he ever did another Star Wars movie, he'd love to do a KoR anthology film. So, I'd be more surprised if they don't show up at this point.

I think ghost Luke is a given, too. I hope he shows up to Kylo, though. Would be reminiscent of his ghost bugging Cade Skywalker in the Legacy comics.

Be interesting to see Rey and Kylo fight each other again. Hopefully Rey’s force abilities get even stronger in IX because she had no training :horror

KoR would be the only way to get me invested in IX... One of very few interesting concepts explored in TFA that they completely ignored in TLJ.
