Yep, thats her job. She can record amd create memories....

“You don’t even have to try hard”

And Wallace didn’t think a replicant could lie. They are not suppose to, but K was way off his baseline and at that point could lie. I suspect he wouldn’t be a very good liar....as it takes practice, something he didn’t have.

Well, I don't think the point is whether Wallace believed K could lie, it's about the tech he had at his disposal tracking everything.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

At that point K was living moment by moment for something he believed in (reuniting Deckard with his daughter.) He couldn't guarantee that Deckard would never be caught or even survive the night, all he could offer was that if anyone asked what happened he'd lie to buy him more time.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

After reading so much talk about BR2049, I decided to watch it again since I had it on my DVR.
I liked it a lot the first time, and this second time as well, but two things bothered me slightly.

1. How could Deckard's daughter "see" K's memories? Was it some special technique that worked on Replicants? If so, why was there an apparatus to do just that conveniently placed in her enclosure?
2. Why did K (Joe by then) think he could fool Wallace into thinking that Deckard had drowned? Wallace has all the tech at his disposal to track the three transports that were shot down, in fact, it's a bit silly to assume that a response team wasn't dispatched immediately after the first transport was downed. So that bit of Joe's plan was a bit silly, story-wise.

Still, it's a great movie, and beautifully shot.

A better question is how did Luv walked into Joshi's office and killed her? She's a replicant...and she just goes into a high ranking officer's office and kills her...there are no cameras, security, and she had no protection either for such an occasion? That was weird.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Yeah, all of Luv's actions inside the LAPD building are a bit iffy... she just waltzes in, kills people and then leaves without anybody taking notice or action. My guess is it's implied that Wallace has control over a lot more than is explicitly shown. But yeah, it is a bit bothersome.

This is a star wars thread? Hooooly shiiiiiiiiiiittttt.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Now here is the interesting bit. If shes Wallaces memory maker, its very possible she implanted those memories into K ON PURPOSE, to cause the chain reaction of events to bring an outside force to bear and retrieve her father. She couldn’t search for him herself due to being sick and stuck in the bubble. So she implanted the memories in K so he would go on the journey in her stead.

Sent from the inside of a giant slug in outer space.....

I don't think she personally implants the memories...didn't seem like she knew K or had any expectation that he was the possessor of her real memory. Anyone? Am I wrong?

I agree. She could have given the memory of the wooden horse to the police department without any realization as to its significance in possibly being traced back to her and who she was. It's possible that any number of replicants could have unknowingly had that same implant and that it was only the fact that K crossed paths with someone connected to the memory (Sapper) that it ended up coming back to her.

What!? That's crazy talk. Let Rian handle those again.

At the end of the credits, I want to see George Lucas and Rian Johnson cross sabers with 'Duel of the Fates' playing.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Well they have to do something special for IX because with the Mandalorian/Cassian shows coming we probably won’t see another theatrical SW movie until 2023/24!

Even if just ceremonial/promotional it would be a big deal.

Do you think it can be as good as the last scene he directed with OT characters? I say:

:lol :lol

I've said it before but for me Lucas redeemed himself when he acknowledged being aware of the Harmy OT (prior to the Disney sale) but did NOT send his legal hounds to shut it down. So George himself allowed me to have HD editions of the theatrical OT. So yeah I'd new SW to at least have his endorsement if not direct involvement.
