Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Yup it’s not in my DNA to just completely cut it off because of Tico Johnson.

If AOTC didn’t kill my enthusiasm for Star Wars than a Star Wars movie that had Luke and Leia in it certainly won’t be the one to do it therefore I will be there opening night first show and if I like it then i’ll see if 16 more times that weekend lol

Now show me some of that sweet virgin Rey *** :lol

Yeah, just those two minor shots were different between the 35mm film and digital versions that were shown in theaters in 2002 and 2005. Not sure why since they were both showing in separate auditoriums at the same time (though there were very few digital projectors at the time, especially in 2002 which is why I went out of my way to visit the Chinese to see AOTC.) Obviously all home releases have featured the digital versions of AOTC and ROTS so unless you had remembered that Padme originally did not hold Anakin's mechanical hand at the wedding ceremony you'd be none the wiser.

Yeah I went and saw the theatrically released CW cartoon in 2008 and was shocked that they considered it worthy of a big screen release with the likes of Wall-E playing in the next auditorium. I know it was just TV footage cut together to make a movie but that didn't keep it from looking any less dreadful in comparison.

As long as it's been I am not sure which version I saw in theaters. Such a weird scene to make different.

Yep. :lol I think the digital version of AOTC also showed an extra Millenium Falcon parked on Naboo when Anakin and Padme landed as well. I need help, lol.

That was so funny! Best line: “Which of these buttons calls your mom to pick you up?”

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

This is what I think Disney might try to do with IX.

They’re going to throw so much fan fulfillment on the wall that something will have to stick but do it in a very tricky way that tries to legitimize TLJ then they will say to the SW fans specifically the TLJ haters....

“See all you needed was patience to let it all play out!”

lol

That’s when we should all fling the hundreds of Rose Tico action figures that are clogging the pegs at them!

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

How awesome would it be to buy like 100 of those Rose action figures and pose them all together on a table then bring a date back to your place.

It’s doable a 100 of them would only cost like $30 :lol

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Judging by some of Mark Hamill's comments in a podcast interview this week, I'm guessing he's not happy with his role in Episode IX. :lol I say that because he's now back to criticizing JJ and his decisions in TFA. Here's some of what Hamill said in the interview, for those who haven't read it yet:

Everyone talks about the shock of realizing that, on Force Awakens, I don't come in until the last page, a bigger shock to me was them killing Han Solo before Luke could ever see his best friend again. I mean, it might be selfishly motivated, but I said, "Holy cow, that's a real missed opportunity." Even having the three of us together, even briefly.

I pitched Abrams on the idea of, "You can still have me come in at the very end," Hamill explains. "But how about this? Leia’s trying to contact me telepathically. She gets frustrated because there’s no answer so she rushes to the new Death Star (that's three so far), and she almost gets there when she’s stopped by two Stormtroopers. Just before she’s abducted, one Stormtrooper turns to the other and blows him away, pulls off his helmet and says, 'Hi sis, I’m here to rescue you.'" I say, "It'll blow the roof off the joint, I'm still in it at the very end."

I think it's more effective to have people that really have a history with Han Solo witness his death and be unable to stop it. His wife, the mother of his child, his best friend, instead of two characters that have known him, what, 20 minutes? But they get the keys to the kingdom, and they're the deciders, so you just have to live with it.

At this point, I wonder if KK or JJ will run the risk of having Hamill promote Episode IX in December. Seems like it'd be a pretty big gamble on their part.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

So tomorrow begins the new movie’s merch reveals?

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

But he didn’t mention IX not even TLJ only TFA what am I missing here.

You're not missing anything. I was merely speculating that he's taking subtle jabs at JJ in response to frustration over his Ep9 role. Just me guessing, and trying to get inside his head.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Well Hamill said he will not be in Chicago next week. I wonder if he was even invited?

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Just in the last few days Hamill said to interviewers that he thinks SW fatigue is a real thing and that even he has been experiencing it lately. Not exactly the most ringing endorsement for whatever role he'll have in Episode IX!

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Do you think Disney/Hamill are pulling a fast one on us trying to hide the “big” reveal that is being thrown around.

Yeah, that's my interpretation of his comments lately too. I would love to know what JJ and KK will be discussing about Hamill's role in promoting the film.
