Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

every movie copies from the bible and Shakespeare . sure

every story has already been told. there are no new stories left

every marvel movie has already been told before

but these people are literally copying from their OWN universe.... at least copy from greek myths or something... but your own movies??? UGh..... UGH.... the arrogance of these people

copy the agenda...if not fully at least throw some in... thrown in our face in ST

If you think that Johnson's sole influences for TLJ were other SW films then you really need to watch some Kurosawa.

please don't insult Kurosawa

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

I mean, they couldnt come up with something different than another death star that needed destroying??? they couldnt think of anything else besides Luke being Yoda now? hiding and training a new jedi that will fight against a new darth vader? HACKS!!!

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Especially the shooting one. Ever see Eastwood, Stallone or Arnold make a face like that when shooting a gun?

Did you actually just use Arnold and Stallone as an example of better acting?

Or not making weird faces???

Don’t make me goto the Internet...

The topic of influence isn't one of subjectivity. TLJ is as much inspired by Rashomon and Ran as it is ESB and ROTJ.

Now with regard to treading new ground TLJ has already guaranteed that Episode IX won't be rehash of ROTJ. Without an "Emperor" character or "wise mentor" on either side and seemingly no fleets to speak of they have to give us something different in conclusion of this trilogy. Even though I'm content with TLJ being my jumping off point in the Saga I can't help but be curious as to what they'll do next.

I do not mind the OT comparision...but the freakin garbage wanna be masterpiece TLJ you call Kurosawa influenced to me has more influence from Oprah, Ellen, Jimmy Kimmel, Care Bears, and My little Pony LOL

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

My Little Pony is way less SJW and way better written than Jimmy Kinmel.

Didn’t he used to show girls on trampolines for a living???

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

the two filmmakers just didn't have a good story to tell
which is why they fell back on pushing an agenda,
subverting expectations and destroying the past.
And that's not even something new to Hollywood hacks.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

That's not entirely true ... at least not in my experience. I have two young daughters who could have taken or left Star Wars until Rey came along. Now they're much more invested.

Toys still arent selling. I'm sure some like her but she isn't well known as Leia or even padme. Once the trilogy is over she won't be remembered at all. I don't see any kids or girls liking her at all.

Awful main characters aside, there's not even a single cool looking looking new alien in this "film". Even the two other Disneyverse films had one or two interesting monsters, this one doesn't even have that. Least toyetic SW ever.

People also tend to look over that racist looking Asian alien in the casino scene. No wonder they didn't make any toys lol

Action figures for any character (OT or otherwise) aren't selling like back in the day but that doesn't mean that Rey is unpopular.

I agree that the new aliens in TFA and TLJ don't hold a candle to those in the OT or RO but those aren't the only elements that make a movie "toyetic." My son and his friends really like the vehicles, particularly the bombers, skim speeders, and Kylo's TIE. They do wars with the micromachines and Legos since 3.75 inch figures just don't appeal to them.

On a side note I think it's interesting that Johnson worked in so many ROTJ craft into this film. A-Wings make a full appearance obviously but then there's also Kylo's TIE being reminiscent of the TIE Interceptors (in addition to DJ pulling up a hologram of a TIE Interceptor) and the skim speeders are basically sideways B-Wings.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Well thats cause ever star wars fan and there mom have the OT figures and PT figures. These new characters are new and no one is buying them. Hot toys still has Rey and finn up for stock on BBTS while Anakin and ROTJ Luke and some OT figures are all sold out. They just aren't good characters and people see that. I'm sure kids like them now, Hell i loved Jar Jar when I was a kid, but in a few yrs I don't see her being remembered like Luke or Anakin. Which is a shame cause I wanted more girls in Star wars. It severely lacks girl characters

:lol :lol

And what's with Moses parting the Red Sea and then Joshua rehashing that by parting the Jordan River? Really God?

And Moses dying alone on a cliff as the fleeing Jews finally march safely into the Promised Land. #notmymoses

#TheeToo

It's all been done before. :lol
