Well, I think the point is the OT is the timeless classic, the cultural phenomenon that deeply embedded itself in the collective psyche.
This to me is like a ride based on the 2016 Ghostbusters - I mean its visually cool because it relates to the classic (ghosts, proton streams, the car, similar outfits/locations etc) and it shares the branding of the classic, but why develop so much when in 15-20 years, the ST will have faded in comparison to the OT?
I guess despite them owning it, Disney didn't produce the OT, it's over 30 years old, and currently all the financial/merch ties relate to the ST. But to me it's a reflection of our time - where branding is an obsession and the power of story just doesn't have the same importance in an era of social media and the internet.
It would have been nice to have seen a somewhat even mixture of OT, PT and ST in this Galaxy's Edge.
