I hope so. That would work well enough for me if the rest of the film is solid.

Same. As I’ve said before though, I’m not really excited for this film. I thought TFA was “just fine” and I disliked TLJ because I thought it was a total regression from what was set up for the characters in TFA, with an overall weak plot. The only positive in it was Luke’s character arc overall worked for me (though I would have done some things differently), and I liked his and Rey’s interaction. The overall story of this trilogy to me has been chaotic and muddled, and I can only hope this film is good from solely a film standpoint. Even if it’s good, I’d still think the overall story in the ST was pretty weak.

While I hope TRoS is good, I fully expect it to be a dud. Going in with that approach, I can’t be disappointed and can only be pleasantly surprised.

EDIT: Actually, no. :lol Because . . .

Rey apparently uses the power on some creature before she even meets Palps

The explanation will have to be something else.

Well that would suck then. :lol

Granted Luke demonstrated a power in TLJ that was never before shown nor alluded to and it was never explained how he did it, but then again, it’s Luke and he has 30+ years of experience, whereas Rey just learned how to move boulders and now suddenly knows how to perform what is arguably the greatest power of all in the SW universe.

Yeah, I need to be filled in a bit if that’s the case.

Maybe she learns it from the sacred Jedi texts that she took with her in TLJ? Though, that really wouldn't explain where Kylo learned it from. So, yeah … I got nothing.

Possibly. Presumably that’s probably how Luke learned how to project himself in hologram form across the galaxy through the Force, being that he had lots of down time on Ahch-To.

but, but remember how they "share" a force connection... lololol

You laugh, but I wouldn’t put it past them to use that as the explanation. :lol Lazy writing imo if so.

As stupid as it is with Rey/Kylo because it's been horribly written, the Force bond thing isn't unprecedented. Bastila Shan and Revan had a Force bond in The Old Republic. I feel as though they borrowed from that a little bit.

They can easily get around it by saying that Sidious had been manipulating them the whole time in order for their force powers to grow so that he can then suck the jedi juice from them as well.

The film is going to be pretty and sound amazing and throw tons of fan service at the viewers in the hopes of "bringing them back."

It will fail miserably and STILL there will be positive peeps screaming that "...it's the best Star Wars movie evah!"

Curious to see if any of them will come back to the real TRoS thread with disappointment in their hearts...

Nah. I don't see that happening.

Interesting that the editor-in-chief of Collider broke with the gush (Josh Gad's Twitter is not a very reliable opinion if you know what I mean) in the minutes following the premiere screening.

HIGHLY unusual for a pre-embargo tweet right after an invitation-only screening - due to the eyes of Disney watching, with finger on the delete button for future premiere guests lists.

Kind of hypocritical then, no?

Not sure what you mean, but sure, if you say so.

You... are.... not... getting it.:gah:

Because the OT and the ST BOTH have flaws, they are both the SAME quality. HELLLOOOO?:monkey3

Because a stunt kick misses in a split second moment in ROTJ, that means we shouldn't be critical (at all) of the fact that in TROS the Emperor's throne room/chair/window has somehow survived - intact and lightly damaged - a 15 mile diameter explosion, entry/burn through a planet's atmosphere and a high-velocity impact on Endor. Otherwise... it's total double standards.

These are equivalent things, so just stop it with your hypocrisy.:lecture

i mean a lot of pro Tlj defenders are saying this movie completely stomps it to the curb, hence why scott stated his opinion about it

If you’re claiming that people who like the ST are overly sensitive and emotional to any criticism of it and that they’re only seeing this film because they’re forcing themselves to “feel something” for it, while simultaneously admitting that the reason you’re giving a pass to any flaws in the OT is because of ”muh dear childhood” (in other words, because you feel something for it), then yeah, you’re just as overly sensitive to the OT as those ST people you claim are overly sensitive, and your sensitivity is just as emotionally charged. Hence, a bit hypocritical.

So let’s not pretend we’re any less emotionally attached, overly sensitive and snowflakey than the ST folks when it comes to the OT, being that it reminds you of your dear childhood. Which makes sense, because we tend to fondly remember things based on what time in our lives it takes us back to. But that also doesn’t mean we need to vigorously defend everything about it to the bitter end and give it a pass in order to protect the sanctity of your childhood. :D

I don't think the OT needs any defending. It's stood the test of time. It gets a lifetime pass.

The Disney Trilogy is hot sludgy diarrhea.

The two can't be compared.

Understandable. The fond memories of your dear childhood, when you were a happier person, are at stake, so I can understand how any criticisms of it would threaten that.

Something is afoot. Either George Lucas is snubbing Disney or they have blacklisted him. I guess based on recent news this isn't all that surprising, but I still would think both parties would put on their smiling faces for this event unless the relationship has completely deteriorated.

Are they not on good terms? I don’t really read all the behind the scenes news, so I’m not sure what’s going on on that front.

Just glancing at all the Tweeter posts form Critics who saw the preview, it seems about a 60/40 split, 60% didn't like it and 40% did... roughly...

The only thing I remember is Lucas saying was that he didn't think TFA was very original and overall was a bit disappointed with it.

Definitely not good terms, but probably only George and the top Disney people know exactly how bad. He apparently wasn't at the premiere stuff and his name wasn't among the celebrity invites. Who knows who told who to stick it?

I read today that Lucas did not attend the premiere but no idea if that’s significant. Did he go to the previous premiers? :dunno

I remember him saying he didn’t like that TFA was so retro but later backpedaled. Then he said TLJ was “very well done.”
