Jye are you really invested in Rey’s story from here on out? Do you really think she’s interesting? I just find her so boring and uninteresting. She has no flaws. That goes for the new characters to. They just kinda suck. What do you see in these characters that’ll keep you coming back. Just wondering.

I know not directed at me but all of these characters have flaws and make mistakes, particularly in TLJ. Luke schools Rey, Leia/Holdo school Poe, Rose schools Finn. All of the protagonists in TLJ recover from a failure or acknowledge their ignorance. Even DJ has a great moment where he acknowledges he may be totally wrong.

Not singling you out but a few of the common critiques don't hold water if you really examine what happens in the movies.

In all seriousness, I rewatched TLJ this weekend, I just skipped the Canto Bight and Rose Taco parts and rather enjoyed it.

Where you see consistency, I see conflict.

Even DJ has a great moment where he acknowledges he may be totally wrong.

And Benicio gets the credit for that awesome moment. On the commentary Johnson confesses that when Finn says "You're wrong" that DJ was supposed to say something goofy like "Better rich than right." Benicio said "nah how about I just say 'maybe'" and Johnson was all "perfect!" So a nice bit of behind the scenes symmetry with the last line of both scoundrels in ESB/TLJ being an actor provided ad lib.

I love that Johnson did a total "Force reset" as he called it with Luke explaining in detail to Rey the fundamental core of the Force itself...without so much as a whisper in reference to midichlorians.
