Blue Flame of the West/Mod
Yes, Star Trek got it right, and E.T. as well. The Blu-ray edition of Close Encounters has three versions of the film, and Blade Runner has FIVE.
Robert Harris has already offered his services to restore the original version of Star Wars for the history books before the elements are lost to us. The cost would be about a million or so, which would be easily recouped. The only thing we need is for Lucas to have a change of heart and listen to reason. The fact that he allowed the laserdisc transfers to be released on DVD shows that he is at least aware of the fan demand and not totally unwilling to allow us access to the originals. Maybe one day he will realize that the original version of Star Wars is a piece of cinematic history that is well worth preserving alongside his preferred updated version.
