Can't say I ever noticed these blue hues on Hoth and green hues on Dagobah that keep getting mentioned. :dunno Not stuff I would have been arsed fixing.

Now you mention it, I never noticed that. Makes me feel like I'm not that observant. lol

I was watching ANH last night and was a little disappointed. They could have cleaned this up better IMO.

One of the best blurays I have seen of a classic being restored was The Wizard of Oz. I would have liked to have seen Lucas put that much time and energy into these. Maybe next time. :slap:rotfl

Also I'm not as bothered by the No as I thought I would be. Although I think they were fine with the first no. It was subtile and sounded angry. No need for the second Noooooooooo. That said I would rather it not be in at all. Another thing that bothers me and this is what it is, is the difference in fighting styles during the duels. They looked dated compared to the jumping and flipping found in the PT.

One more thing I didn't like was the weird Obi Wan scream. I started laughing. I was like WTF was that. :lol

Well, the Sand people are easily frightened, even by poor audio modifications. But, they will return in greater numbers.

The first time I saw that scene, as a kid, I didn't even hear the original scream. I thought Ben just snuck up on them in the hooded robe and surprised them. Somehow in my mind, that was always what happened. The subtly of the jedi creature call was lost on my young ears I guess.

I'm new to watching the OT films, and have only seen the first 2 so far. But the Obi-Wan scream was a stand-out for me. :lol

I did notice that the fighting style did perhaps seem a little more realistic though, a little more cautious and haphazard, instead of it being perfectly choreographed.

Interesting that you say Attack of the Clones is over long by 20 min. I've said it before, but its worth repeating.

If you've ever seen the Imax cut of that film, its right at 2 hours, and cut down to that running time, the film REALLY moves. Most of the clunky stuff with Portman and Christensen is gone. There is just enough to tell the love story, and it works MUCH better. Actually the film is paced much more like the original trilogy movies. I think if that were the film that was in general release, it would likely have been reviewed as one of the best of the 6 films.

There really is something to say for having restrictions on the filmmakers. It forces them to be creative, and often the end product ends up being much better.

Well shoot now I'd dying to see the IMAX cut of AOTC! The deleted scenes of TESB show that if that movie was 10 minutes longer it might have meant incredibly awkward extra dialogue from Han and Leia (in more than one scene) and Snowtroopers looking like keystone cops. It would have changed the tone and "perfection" of the entire movie. I wonder how much better AOTC would be with a much faster pace and minimal Anakin/Padme dialogue.

A lot better. A fellow Star Wars lifer/friend saw both cuts and loved the IMAX cut. That was before IMAX could handle full length movies and all the expository frolicking in the grass with Padme and Anakin were removed.

Funny you should mention an old movie. I picked up "Once Upon a Time In the West" yesterday and the restored 1080p image of this 40+ year old film is breathtaking.

Don't forget, Lucas left even more of that on the cutting room floor.

"The thought of not being with you—I can't breathe"

I saw the IMAX cut of AOTC. It also got rid of the god-awful C-3P0 stuff in the Geonosis factory and area. That alone made it a better film.

Here's what was cut:

Yeah I know with Oz the showed how they did it in the special features. They went in frame by frame cleaning up film grain and such. It really is amazing what they can do when they take the time to do it right.

Well the AOTC IMAX cut will be quite the white whale then. Imagine if that was what was widely released. That cut could have saved AOTC from being the proverbial straw that broke the PT's back. People were annoyed by Jar Jar, Jake, and midichlorians but seemed to by and large be willing to see if AOTC could undo the perceived "damage" of TPM.

All the "sand is rough" and flea-riding kind of killed its chances.

I remember how the Annotated Screenplays talk about George constantly telling Kershner to cut out all the crap, make the movie go go go when editing Empire. If only he'd done that with Clones.

Wasn't the "crap" Lucas' own crap? lol

Definitely. And why not change Guiness to MacGregor for continuity? I prefer Alec Guiness, but it makes no sense to have Anakin the way he was from the PT with Obi Wan from the OT.

Why not? ;) I honestly thought they did a great job with that casting, from the look to the voice.
