The force sprint is fine (I used it all the time before TPM even existed in Dark Forces II Jedi Knight).

The Yoda stuff in AOTC was stupid though, you right (that little green ***** couldn’t even keep up with people without his repulser wheel chair thing). Still, not as bad as the ST. As time goes on, the force just gets worse and worse.

I've kinda been following this thread, although the last 30 or so pages flew by so I skipped a big bunch. So forgive me if this has been posted:

It's discussing the Duel of the Fates screenplay, and while I know it's been discussed ad nauseam, I think he has a fresh take on it. He focuses more on the parts of the script that handle character development, which is what I find interesting.

For the record, I know most know this, I just want to reiterate that as a long time SW fan since watching SW in '77, I love the sequels. I think TFA and TLJ are fantastic, but ROS took a little stumble in trying to address the LJ backlash and the trilogy suffered ultimately. If JJ would have kept Trevorrow's script, or at least the larger main character development aspects which the guy in the video points out, I think DOTF could have been great. JJ is a great visionary and can do action like nobody's business, but can't seem to really do anything with much depth. Trevorrow's script isn't perfect by any means, but it did have some strong ideas and could have been great if the right person would have given it a few more revisions. JJ just needed a better and more developed script.

There are plenty of things in TLJ that I can easily admit are stupid. From little things like the absurdity of putting a trash can over BB-8 and expecting that to fool the FO personnel, to big things like how cringey the Leia Poppins "flight" looked. There are things in *every* SW movie I love that I can admit are stupid.

But I think we should also be able to agree on things like "human" Jedi not following the physical rules that Earth humans do. Last time I checked, we don't have anything in our blood called "midichlorians." And we can't survive being flung into columns and walls at full speed and just get up and walk away.

I agree with you that we should be able to admit when things are stupid about what we like. But using a double standard to slam what we don't like isn't any good either.

O yea I know buddy. It is dumb but it?s still a movie. There is being slammed against a wall and there is flying like your superman in the void of space . Like yea some stuff isn?t believable but let?s not go full on stupid .

I?m not saying the PT is realistic either so I don?t know where u got the double standard stuff from. Fighting in a lava filled world is impossible. But we close our mind to it cause it?s a movie. Impossible crap happens. But the execution has to be atleast solid and that wasn?t

How hot you figure that lava was they were near lol

Those shield droids were silly to add to the battle

Not that it matters, but the void of space makes what she did the opposite of flying. Flying means circumventing gravity. There's no gravity in space. So if she uses the Force to pull the ship (like Yoda and Luke do with the X-Wing), she doesn't actually need to move the ship. All she'd need to do is allow the pull to nudge her toward it. Zero gravity takes care of the rest.

The problem with it (for me) is just that it looked stupid. But that's pretty much how it would actually look in space, so if they wanted that scene in there, the execution couldn't really look any cooler.

And I wasn't saying that you were the one using a double standard. I was referring to the whole conversation about the "science" of what should happen to a SW character in that scene.

Also, great example with the lava. Those "humans" don't respond to conditions the same way we do. I just file it away as "whole other galaxy; different set of rules." I love the lava planet, and the idea of how a duel there on screen looks. Cool visual.

I do really like that TLJ added a visual of what the shields look like around a capital ship and how fighters can fly right through them. I was about to say that visible shields around a starship is a first for SW but then there was that one brief moment in TPM where Jake Lloyd turned on the shields after his Naboo fighter overheated and you see them flash on and deflect some blasts from Battle Droids.

They invested so much money into star wars they aren?t going to let it die.

Also give it three years after Covid. You?ll see nothing but mando and ot and pt stuff. They only did that cause they thought the ST was going to become huge. Give it three years. The mando popularity is way ahead of the ST and sells.

Disney world is always crowded. They had lines out the door for the original Star Wars ride. It?s an amusement park. Let?s check back in three or 4 years abd see if that ST stuff is still there .

Like it or not mando is the highlight of the franchise right now

Oh I agree about them adding things. But that was always Walts vision for all the parks. To add things to keep them current. I doubt he would have been much of a fan of doing a Guardians if the Galaxy ride (That?s going to be dated fast).

Strange thing is they have almost nothing from the PT. Which I was disappointed in. OT is only really mentioned via ST. But it?s influence is pretty heavy. It is an outpost so it?s got an overall OT vibe. Still, it?s too bad they ignore everything PT in GE.

I think your wrong about the interest fading. If anything , the numbers keep increasing at GE over all the other parks.

Oddly enough, Avatar land is doing well also. At this point Disney can almost afford to make films solely to bolster the parks if they desire. 33% of revenue of 7 BILLION a year just from the parks. It?s more than all the new films and streaming they produce.

So from their standpoint, the films and shows are just as much advertising for the parks as revenue. So why not?

Also , it?s quiet inevitable that SW fandom will shrink over time. The pinicle of SW was 1977-1986. It?s really been all downhill from there. It?s a slow gentle slope, but it?s never going to be OT hype level ever again. It?s hard for anyone who was not alive then to really appreciate the mania surrounding it , in the pre social media , pre internet days.

I find it weird. Avatar land is doing well to

O my .... are we really defending the leia flying in space scene ?

Guys I?m man enough to admit that the PT has dumb **** in it and some things don?t need defending or understanding. They are just stupid .

I know I use to say you guys were blind fanboys but let?s think a bit rational and call it for what it is. A stupid scene

You get rattled when people talk about the PT and just as rattled when people discuss the ST. I think you might just need to find your own safe space away from Star Wars talk altogether. ;)

The ST is so popular it is being replaced by The Mandalorian at Galaxy’s Edge.

Even Disney is admitting to the FAILURE of the ST to hold any deep personal interest/love/passion/relevancy to individuals.

THE RETCON IS COMING

Making Galaxy's Edge set on a made up planet post-ST was *always* stupid, regardless of whether you're an ST fan or not.

It should have been an all eras (OT/PT/TCW/ST) park with different planets and characters represented from the very beginning. Making it an all-Mando park is almost equally stupid.

Looks like I’ll be going to Galaxy’s Edge now that all the trash is being removed. Who the hell wanted to see Mary Sue Rey or Kylo’s ship when we’ll get Grogu and the Razor Crest?

ST is so freaking finished :lol:lol:lol No new comics, no new books, no new action figures/toys, no new TV shows...

Why is that ST Lovers? What’s the big excuse you have for no content from a new trilogy?

All Mando will get boring real quick

No kidding. Why go out of their way to deny visitors the opportunity to enjoy 90% of SW?

Imagine if the main park at Disneyland or Magic Kingdom at Disney World was *nothing* but Cinderella themed rides and characters. Even if that was your favorite Disney movie that'd be dumb, dumb, dumb.

They had it perfect with Star Wars Weekends with characters from all the movies and shows walking around.

C'mon guys! All this ST talk woke up Ducky. You know he needs his sleep. :D

You gotta love the ST. It sets out to tell a story of a strong independent women, that ANYBODY can be special and change the galaxy for the good. And what we get is a weak minded women unable to break the chains of her abusive relationship, a relationship that features her lover killing her friends, killing trillions, torturing her, and mind raping her. And what does she do? She crawls back under the guise of Kylo being a changed man. An age old trope that usually ends up with the girl dead in a ditch. How pathetic. A story that glorified abuse and assault against women with no care or thought given to the subject. Instead of teaching young girls a lesson in empowerment, the trilogy leaves us with a message of weakness. To top it all off, Rey wasn’t just a nobody, she was special, and all her powers come from an old white man, only ruining the message of strong womanhood even more.

I went over very similar ground several posts back. Can't remember if it was this thread or another ST afflicted one. :lol

Disney dressed up the film in a progressive coat but it proved to be a bit threadbare, which is what you'd expect (I guess) from a massive, conservative money-making machine.

The usual suspects disagree with the above analysis of Rey's character being defined by her abuse at the hands of mysterious-there's-still-good-in-him-psycho-parent-killing-kinda-sorta-boyfriend. :rotfl

Saw the rumor that it might become a Mandalorian park. I would go if they removed all of the ST trash.

There is also a new rumor that Favreau might be bringing RDJ into the fold, possibly to play Thrawn. This would surprise me but it's certainly not impossible.

Also today Disney dropped an awful new animated High Republic trailer that looked like it had a $65 budget and was made by a six year old with a box of crayons :lol
