Wait a second. You guys are going back and defending the Leia in space scene now? WTF

I?m out of here.

Nooooooo!

I would still rather not have that scene I swear on the grave of my ancestors

You're gonna have serious issues when the World Between Worlds initiates a Trek/Harry Potter/Sequel Trilogy crossover shortly after Disney secures the other properties.

You know know that we're a couple weeks out from the Mando Season finale I'm realizing that it really is all about the movies for me. I mean I've been loving Mando and may still collect some stuff from it but eh, I kind of feel that they can do whatever they want and that it's all really just glorified EU. Which I never really cared that much about in any era of SW. So if they go full TWBW or retcon this or that with any given TV show that'll never even get physical media releases it will always feel peripheral to the true canon of the films.

The Skywalker Saga is what it is and there's no changing it.

:exactly: :lecture :exactly:

They can do whatever they want I got my 6 movies and that youtube guy epic PT Anakin deconstruction :yess:

:lol :lol

Early animatics of the scene where the ewoks try to trip that one Scout Walker, lol.

:lol :lol

Or me circa 1980 with my mom walking out empty handed from the SW aisle lol

She even prepared with the force for what was about to happen

The way I look at it the vacuum of space pulled all the shrapnel, debris, flames and heat away from her since she wasn't in proximity of the actual hull breach and since this isn't freaking Star Trek it works for me as long as i'm engaged in the damn story!

Take that Trekkies masquerading as SW fans lol

Seems like a fair enough interpretation to me. She definitely anticipated what was about to happen, that much is clear enough.

I can't claim to know what, if anything, she was prepared to do with the Force, but I am definitely enjoying how hard science is being used to criticize a SW scene. :rotfl

Sure, let's insist that SW "humans" from that galaxy far, far away have the same physiology that we do. It's not like the difference in their spacesuits versus ours would suggest sturdier/hardier physiology. I'm sure generations of interstellar travel wouldn't lead to evolution of expanded lung capacity and other genetic survival "mutations."

And it's not like the ESB asteroid worm scene set a precedent for what "hard science" means in SW context. This forum is amusing. :lol

Ah yes I knew there was an example of people exposed to the "hard vacuum of space" (*snicker*) in ESB but I was drawing a blank so thanks for the reminder. That's why the "science" of Space Leia is not only easy to explain but is borderline irrelevant. I just thought it was cool to see it pointed out that it has some symmetry with what we already saw two Jedi do in TPM.

Big surprise, we're seeing two different things here. I just don't think the filmmakers have it in them.

Any idiot knows the franchise demands a suspension of disbelief. But some things need to be axiomatic -- e.g. explosions hurt a lot and you die in space, but I get it, Lucas made the Jedi superheroes in the PT, it's his fault.

Sure, just make it up as you go along. :rotfl

That's probably why they didn't spend any quality time on scripts for the ST, they know fans will do the work for them.

Make up what? Do you seriously believe that our human physiology would survive some of the concussive impacts and space-related consequences of what we see play out in all of the SW movies that came before? If I apply that kind of "they're exactly the same as us, and have the same 'rules,'" wouldn't lots of things have gotten in the way of just going with the fantasy? I honestly don't get what you're saying here, and would appreciate clarification.

O my .... are we really defending the leia flying in space scene ?

Guys I?m man enough to admit that the PT has dumb **** in it and some things don?t need defending or understanding. They are just stupid .

I know I use to say you guys were blind fanboys but let?s think a bit rational and call it for what it is. A stupid scene

See , this is the thing. Let me try to explain it simply.

SW was never dead after the ST, as a matter of FACT it was doing quite well, with many newer fans to replace the disgruntled old ones.

If it had been dead, Disney would not have bothered sinking all the cash they did into all the new shows coming out. Those shows were already in the works before Mandalorian. They added more in fact and those additions were definetly bolstered by Mando.

Of course it was also due to the popularity of Galaxys Edge and continued revenue from the SW franchise and the newer media connected to it beyond toys.

The films and investments Disney made the ST were great financial successes, regardless of what people want to believe , SW and it?s fandom is still going strong. Just because some vocal YouTube videos keep shouting to the heavens that SW is dead does not make it so.

Even now, try to goto Galaxys Edge any day of the week without a crowd.....good luck.

Not a Mando anywhere to be seen there.

They invested so much money into star wars they aren?t going to let it die.

Also give it three years after Covid. You?ll see nothing but mando and ot and pt stuff. They only did that cause they thought the ST was going to become huge. Give it three years. The mando popularity is way ahead of the ST and sells.

Disney world is always crowded. They had lines out the door for the original Star Wars ride. It?s an amusement park. Let?s check back in three or 4 years abd see if that ST stuff is still there .

Like it or not mando is the highlight of the franchise right now

Wait what? Jeebus.

Two Jedi at rest holding their breath for a long time vs. suffering the concussive force of a massive explosion and getting sucked into hard vacuum.

Yea I?d just back away slowly...... I think there blind love has piqued. They been on the Internet for days and hrs talking about the same topic. They are tired. Just back out the thread and let khev and jye have there little tug fest and then when the smoke is cleared they can probably gain some rational thought on the subject .

Cause we all know it makes no damn sense.

There are plenty of things in TLJ that I can easily admit are stupid. From little things like the absurdity of putting a trash can over BB-8 and expecting that to fool the FO personnel, to big things like how cringey the Leia Poppins "flight" looked. There are things in *every* SW movie I love that I can admit are stupid.

But I think we should also be able to agree on things like "human" Jedi not following the physical rules that Earth humans do. Last time I checked, we don't have anything in our blood called "midichlorians." And we can't survive being flung into columns and walls at full speed and just get up and walk away.

I agree with you that we should be able to admit when things are stupid about what we like. But using a double standard to slam what we don't like isn't any good either.

Leia is about as much of a Jedi as Han Solo was in Empire when he briefly used Luke’s lightsaber to cut open the Tauntaun. Screw her.

It’s stupid. Leia was cooler when she had to improvise like a real person by blasting open garbage panel gratings or chocking Jabba out with her slave chains, not ****ing wizard-y Harry Potter ********. The sequel trilogy jumped the shark with the Force ****. Stuff like broom boy, force life revive, space flight, self-projection as “ah, gotcha” moments was just too much. Why would her character even want to be a Jedi?

OT and PT handled the force the best without jumping the shark. I never once viewed Luke, Vader, Obi-Wan, Yoda, Qui-Gon, Windu, etc. as some kinda anime video game super heroes like the ST depicts characters. Why does Rey, Kylo and Leia even bother walking? They should just be able to fly like Superman or Magneto or Neo. Why not?

I'm with you on the OT using Force/Jedi the best without jumping the shark. But the PT? The "Force sprint" when Qui-Gon and Kenobi run from the droids in TPM is pure anime video game. Yoda catching Dooku lightning and twirling around like a coked-up ninja turtle jumps isn't exactly restrained either. The shark was jumped long before. And if you count the EU, the shark got jumped, then the motorcycle was turned around to jump it from the other direction, before jumping it one more time for good measure.

One of my favorite ST posts from you was when you said Rey was so obnoxious she couldn't even be bothered to use a damn shovel to bury Luke and Leia lightsabers :rotfl

Crazy that I remember that usually it's Khev i'm stalking lol
